What did she do to her teammates? She comforted them the whole time. She wasn't the one disobeying her coach. Anatasia did. She refused to do BB in the Team finals in the Olympics, so who did it. Yep, Aliya did it even though she wasn't in good condition for BB. She never disobeyed any order. She just gave an indication that she didn't want to be comforted when she brushed Alexandrov away. I only saw her roll her eyes once, and that was the American Cup. I roll my eyes at American media too! XD

Yeah, Bulimar and Iordache were out there kicking ass. They had difficulty, tumbling, artistry, consistence - let me quote the almighty Shannon Miller's favorite compliment - they were such a joy to watch.

I kind see where you're getting, but I think her 2013 BB in the Russian Championship was actually one of her better routines on beam in a long time.

Oh, I agree, her new routine is absolutely beautiful, yet again, way too many wobbles and insecurities for my taste...it's not just her, if you compare Beijing and London beam finals, you'll notice that in the last 4 years, we haven't had an influx of exquisite beam workers (in the league of Ksenia Semenova, Nastia Liukin, Shawn Johnson), the only one who caught my eye was Katelyn Ohashi.

@gchaouch Yea that's exactly it. She has a triple twist of BB which she does with not so good form - legs very obviously crossed and a 3.5 on the floor. All these twisting + pounding (and there will be many of those awkward "side" landings) will weaken her knee. She's a beautiful gymnast but I don't want to see her killing herself over trying to get the highest difficulty there is. Just ain't worth it.

I think the recent Codes have had a big play in that from what I hear, but I'm far from credible, so I don't really know.

Not really, 2008 and 2012 codes are pretty similar. Anyway, watched Euros today, Mustafina's beam was horrible. She was pretty solid on bars, vault and floor (apart from her characteristic helicopter legs in twisting), won gold...but even though I was rooting for her, I really felt that Larissa Iordache was severely underscored both on bars and vault.

Whadda diva hahahaha I like that she's not afraid to be show some attitude and spunk, unlike robotic gymnasts. But unfortunately it can come across as stuck-up.

I don't know, she just doesn't "click" with the beam if you ask me...even when she does everything by the book, it still seems stiff and without true, inner self confidence. I mean, when she's on bars, it's clean, it's crisp, it just flows, you can see that it's her apparatus and that she's the boss of it, but beam, it's her weak point, and she's actually consistently getting worse and worse on that field.

Her talent goes above and beyond, but there's a fine line between being a diva and just having a bad attitude. Rudely disobeying her coach, rolling her eyes all the damn time, going through a routine with an attitude after a bad mistake...when you're competing you just can't act like that. My track coach would knock me upside the head if I ever disrespected her, had the nerve to push her away, and then treated my TEAMMATES with the attitude and disdain that Mustafina did hers.
