having lived here in Nahariyya almost 9 years, Nahariyya is very difficult if, you don't get involved with the anglo community and you are older. One thing people don't know is, with the language barrier, most people over 50, Israelis anyway have grown kids, grandkids and still work long weeks and long days and are not so welcoming, not because they aren't nice, its just their lives are so busy they have little time to invite new olim and break their teeth with trying to understand your Hebrew. We wanted Israeli, we already lived in America in a great community in Cleveland and didn't think we needed an anglo community, we wanted to be Israeli. Big huge, massive mistake. If you have kids, they will help you to assimalate, but if you don't, you most likely won't. Working over 50 in the North is almost impossible, agism is real and brutal. That isn't just an opinion its fact, Israeli's are very up front and will tell you to your face, you are too old. So, prepare for that as best you can because if you are over 50 and must work, you may very well never work again unless you have something prearranged from America. Nahariyya is beautiful, we love the Ga'aton, the beach but its not easy unless you are older and come with a lot of money. We didn't and it was, well not easy to say the least. Get involved with the angol community from the beginning, they will help guide you.
