Many police officers still use the older M16A1 and M16A2s although going through a refurbishment process before being passed down. But are those hundred thousands of M4s just for Police? The armed forces has the priority with regards to the distribution of the new M4s. Police that wears camo are Special Action Force units of the Police. - Those SAF troopers stationed locally in each city/town are equipped with M16s. The higher tier SAF Troopers (SAF Seaborne) for special missions uses M4s and even state-of-the-art assault rifles and kits.

The M4s are almost exclusively for military use. The police received some new gloc pistols in the last 2 years- both by efforts during Duterte and Aquino admins. The nearly one hundred thousand M4 acquisition done during the Aquino admin recently were all for the military, although special units of every branch have been known to get what they want anyway. Duterte currently is pushing for modernization of police weapons for antidrug operations and security.

Mohammad Fuad Rapsan Do you even know how difficult it is to eliminate rebels in an urban area? Apart from eliminating them, they have to limit civilian casualties and rescue hostages. Suppose you were one of the civilians there and the rebels held you hostage. The rebels have you at gunpoint and the army is trying to eliminate them without getting you killed. They could just launch missiles on the place and purge the city but the civilians are there. Try being a soldier or learn about what a soldier has to do.

Daniel Frank All males in my country have to serve in the army police or firefighter. I was in the army. Done urban and jungle training. U dont relax when yr country is being run down. U dont bomb using jets and cannon randomly. U sent battalion to sweep building by building. I dont see their army having a sense of urgency dealing with the situation. The rebels knew by now they are not capable in dealing with the situation. They might even planning to takeover other towns because they knew its easy. Their army are called Marines! what is the point calling yrself marines and training with US marines if u still not capable in dealing with this rebels?
