Michoacan state is an epicenter of Mexico's violence. While cartels, vigilantes & authorities fight, the population's trapped in the middle. Al Jazeera spent a month on the ground in the state to investigate.

Excellent point. Michoacan is my state I used to go visit every year growing up. It was so different back then, paradise. Never thought or knew it had become a living nightmare for the locals. With all the migrants coming over, I was under the impression that people were crossing simply to have a better future, aka, illegal crossings. That's what the news covers, but boy was I wrong. This tells a very different story indeed in which asylum should be warranted to all of these poor families who've abandoned their home to avoid cartel execution and make the journey north to simply survive. so heartbreaking

@@edwelndiobel1567 Oh yeah, working so well with the CIA, DEA, and FBI selling arms to the cartels, corrupt customs officers allowing guns and drugs to pass through the border, and on and on. America needs to legalize drugs, stop putting people into prison for addiction and open up a ton of rehab centers around the country instead of spending billions on bombing Middle Eastern countries. Imagine what we could have improved if we didn't stupidly and illegally invade Iraq and Afghanistan. Trillions of dollars could have gone towards improving our infrastructure and lifting up our own people but nope. That’s super odd to say, I’ve always felt that Brazil is levels above when it comes to actual violence. Mexico is violent but Brazil is extreme, you say it’s concentrated but there’s a lot out there about how if you live there long enough your bound to get robbed at gunpoint or knife
@Samuel-fo4gv
@Samuel-fo4gv 8 күн бұрын
@@jumpy2xstreaming The majority of the Brazilian population lives in urban areas, and this type of violence is an urban phenomenon. This is why you see countless people reporting crimes of this type online, but this does not reflect the country as a whole. The homicide rate in the north of the country is much higher than in the south, and the same happens in Mexico (both are huge countries), but in Brazil the north is poor and the south is more developed, whereas in Mexico it is the opposite, That's why the overall quality of life in Brazil is better. Violence in Brazil is based on small crimes and in urban areas, that is, you won't die, but it could be that some kid passes by you and pulls your backpack in large centers. In Mexico, it's terrorism, kidnapping, a market financed by the USA that won't change either, unlike Brazil, which has been reducing crime year after year. In 2017 the homicide rate was 29.2 in Brazil and in 2023 18.7. In Mexico, in 2017 it was 22.5 and in 2023 it was 23.5 (remembering that this number could even be higher due to the lack of transparency of the numbers on the part of the Mexican government, as kidnappings and underreporting are not taken into account).

Legalize marijuana, its one of the biggest dents we can make in the drug war. More people use marijuana in the USA than any drug besides alcohol. Everyone likes to get high, but not everyone wants to do heroin, cocaine and lose their lives and families from it and alcohol tastes bad and causes too many people to do stupid things, we had to make something legal and alcohol was there, everyone likes to get high and its a stressful society, its not like we can just grow and raise our own food so easily and that costs money too plus the time you have to wait until you can harvest, everything needs money and a 9-5 is stressful. People want a break in life but alcohol isnt always the answer for that stress relieving

There’s lots of documentaries like this on the internet (about Mexico and the cartels). So it’s no secret what things are like there (from a government perspective). If you’re going to ‘disappear’, it’s going to happen whilst you’re actually in Mexico making the documentary. And then it’s usually because by kidnapping you, people can demand a ransom. This documentary was made a while ago so safe to say that nothing bad happened.

And the world is crying Not only because of petty things. But because of government interference (in US the CIA, FBI NSA) via orchestrating and manipulating race and gender warfare on Americans with the aid of the PedoMedia Cartel.

My grandfather lived through the Mexican revolution. He said he tried living peacefully but the government came by and beat him up and afterwards the rebels did the same. He joined the first armed group he found afterwards. In such a situation those who sit on the sidelines are only victims. One must either leave or take up arms.

The way those security posed with that guy when taking the photo reminded me of the cartels and how they posed before brutally murdering the people they captured. So no way that guy was going to have it easy after that.
