In the evangelical Christian worldview, the 1948 creation of Israel was a fulfilment of Biblical prophecy and the Palestinians are either “non-existent” or “the enemies of God, because they are the enemies of the State of Israel”, explains Palestinian human rights defender Jonathan Kuttab.
Kuttab tells host Steve Clemons that believers of this interpretation of holy scripture do not care about international law or catastrophic war in the region. “They say, ‘Bring it on. That’s the End Times. That’s the Second Coming. That’s wonderful.’”
And if 30 percent of Americans hold these beliefs, what is the impact on US policy on Palestine and Israel?

That is to say He assumes fidelity to the commandments and warns that we bring awful consequences if it is strayed from - commandments such as “welcome the stranger in the land and do not oppress them”. Yes God is with Israel - and God is against Hamas - but He’s also against Likud and the ongoing genocide - and He’s also with the people of Palestine. Remember the Angel in Joshua at the gate of Jericho when he asked - “are you for us or our enemy” - the Angel simply responded “I am not” - not on either side of the human war even in that war! God pleads from the Scriptures, through the Bishops in Jerusalem and the Pope, and through the voices of so many faithful Rabbis Jews (the prophetic few - a minority as ever in human history) for an end to this genocide!

Ultimately, we need to read scripture and fully understand the intent and the will of Almighty God, whom He gave the land to, whom He will draw back to that promised land, where He will place the tribes of Israel in the future, and where Lord Jesus will return to, and reside, during His millennial reign on Earth. What we are seeing now is a part of God's Will for mankind, His intent for mankind to return to Him and repent of the sin of unbelief in both Almighty God and Lord Jesus, His Messiah.

@@rogers5789 I do not believe this is God’s will. He will ultimately work good through it but this is the wickedness of man. We worked in the country for 5 years and Israel’s government is evil. I will not put them on higher ground than Hamas. They are doing what is right in their own eyes just as they did all through the Old Testament. God did not stand with them in their wickedness but called them to repentance. If God is going to give them the land, that is exactly what HE will do. Yes and no. Jesus was a jew from a well off family. It's a myth he was poor, he was not, his stepfather was an established craftsman running his own business, what would be now considered upper middle class. In today's context his family would be given by the Israeli Government a home and a plot of land in the occupied territory but Jesus would probably be the modern stereotype of the leftist SJW.

This was a good explanation of Evangelicalism. Although it wasn’t exhaustive, it was enough to help the audience understand what evangelicals are misinterpreting in the reading of scripture. One important but easily misinterpreted verse is the one that says: “And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.” Genesis 22:18 (KJV) As the guest pointed out, it was to Jesus that the scripture referred. Evangelicals believe that David’s temple has to be rebuilt, but the location is where the Dome of the Rock Mosque currently stands. What do they intend to do about that? The scripture to which they point is in the book of Daniel, but here again the scripture is misinterpreted. The holy place mentioned is not a physical temple, but the temple in the heart of the believer. There’s quite a few more fallacies based on misinterpretations, but I digress. What was presented in this video should be sufficient to at least call into question the supposed justification for the unholy carnage taking place in Gaza.

Some Christians are not even aware that Zionism is a distinct idea, or even what it is. If you asked a Christian if they were a Christian Zionist, they would ask you what that was.

God promised the "land ' if they follow God. As one Hassidic rabbi said, " The Jews need God, not land." This approval of this murder and hate of Palestinians has really bothered me. After all, the commandment says, "Love Thy Neighbor," And Jesus is the Prince of Peace. This morning, after months of worrying about this, I woke to remember this idea of the spiritual battle in the cosmos. This battle affects the humans but is actually played out elsewhere. What if the battle is Love vs Not Love, and our human challenge is to Love, but we get confused in our earthly fears and egos. Anyway, I think the ONLY WAY to go is Peace. Once, I heard a Phd Psychologist talk about a multi-year study the UN did about how to make peace. It was actually very simple and much cheaper than war and more fun, of course. Here on earth, it is probably a war between people who make money through war vs people who want peace. The current talks and results of the Council of International Justice tell us a lot of law and truth about the issue and should be listened to more. Jesus was a Jew who was a whistleblower on the corruption of the state of Jewish society back in the day.. The bottom line is who can not see EVERYONE AS CHILDREN OF God. I think much of the bible has been distorted by politics throughout history. Also, the beauty of God is in all religions.

Even a lot of non Jews have bought into those who have misinterpreted the scripture to prop themselves up. If you speak up against the war in Palestine many come out against you. But many also don't know that there is a very large population of Christians who are living in Palestine and have always lived there. Israel destroyed a large community of Christians in Palestine. Many were taking refuge in the 3rd oldest Christian church in the world to try and save their lives, It is against what the UN and other world have established, churches, schools, hospitals, and even innocent civilians are not supposed to be targeted. But Israel blew up that Christian church anyway killing all who were taking refuge inside. They targeted schools and hospitals anyway. They not only went against the established code set down down by world courts for war but Israel went against God's law. Thou shalt not kill being His first commandment. So many women and children have been killed and even like I said, that entire Christian community and the world's 3rd oldest Christian church they destroyed. Only those who obey God's saw are God's chosen. Those who have done all of this killing are not abiding by God's law. We are all the children of God no matter our faith when we abide by him and scripture clearly says this.

More than 29K Palestinians killed by the Israeli army by Feb 29, 2024. That's a lot more than 1,200. That's not defending themselves that's a slaughter. Israeli military killing 250 Palestinians per day with many more lives at risk from hunger, disease and cold. Most of the Palestinian deaths are women and children. @@belindamostert1125 Oh my word where to start... The new testament sheds light on the old testament, including the fulfillment of OT prophecies concerning Israel. Both old and new testaments are inspired Scripture and must be taken together because the new fulfills the old. The new covenant has come and the old covenant is obsolete. In the Bible the nation of Israel was indeed God's chosen people under the old covenant, but when Jesus came and died on the cross, He established the new covenant as God had promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34. We read in Hebrews 8:6-13, 10:16-18, and 12:24 that this prophecy was fulfilled by Jesus, the mediator of the new and better covenant. Therefore, all the OT promises made to Israel have been fulfilled in the Lord Jesus, who is the promised seed of Abraham (Genesis 12:1-3 & Galatians 3:16-18). The nation of Israel that existed during the old testament era and at the time of Christ’s first coming fulfilled its purpose of bringing the promised Messiah to all the nations and is no longer a part of God’s plan of redemption for mankind, nor ever will be again. Modern day Israel is not the same as Biblical Israel, but rather a politically created nation by the U.N since 1948 and is not a fulfillment of any Bible prophecy. Jesus foretold of the destruction of Jerusalem in Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21. That event took place in 70 AD and that ended not only the Judaic age, but also God's dealings with Israel as a nation. Our focus as Christians should be to spread the gospel to all the world and not only on one nation in the middle east that has no particular significance to us or to God. Under the new covenant all people can come to faith in Christ and be saved, whether they are a Jew or a Gentile because the dividing wall has been removed and all who believe are one body in Christ (Ephesians 2:14). Only those who believe in Jesus are saved and are God's chosen, covenant people. We should pray for the salvation of Israelis just as we pray for people of all nations.

The part in the interview about how a lot of evangelicals hold a position they haven’t put much thought into, is an important piece in understanding why these atrocities happened in the past and present. I remember back during the sales job for invading Iraq. How it wasn’t uncommon to hear people suggest ‘nuking the whole country’. Obviously it was people that didn’t care about evidence. It was just a position they casually came to and couldn’t be told otherwise.

If you say you are a Christian then you believe in God's word the Bible, and you accept that everything written in the Bible is inspired by God and true. In the Bible, God is the original Zionist. Zion was His idea before the creation of the world. And so no matter how bad things look for Israel, God will cause Israel to prevail because they are His heritage. Did He not say many times "I will put my name in Zion"?

Israel is not God's chosen nation and Israel Never will be saved as a nation; but individually if they choose to follow God have the same opportunity for salvation as any person. I can never understand how a God, or Supreme Creator will want so much evil done to validate or seal the goodness of His existence... This is a problem where faith, religion can now be customised to one's whims and fancies. I won't name another faith here in the global South part of the world is yet another one, where dehumanising one faith and demolition of their sacred places is approved by courts of law, so that one can build sacred places of the other dominant faith.
