My story: I've been doing 20/4 for 6 months with a monthly 48hr fast. I've dropped the fat, 40lbs of it. When I started, I couldn't do a pull-up...and 3 push-ups was a struggle. Now I do 3 sets of 6-8 pull-ups or chin-ups and 4 sets of 12 deep push ups. I lift as heavy as I can. I push to failure in my HIIT routine. I started running again for the first time in 20 years. Oh, by the way, I'm 49. I will turn 50 in better shape and looking and feeling younger than I was at 35. I used to be an athlete in my 20's. An avid mountain biker and climber. I injured my spine in my late 20's and I lay on a sofa for 20 years. I would call my comeback a miracle. - Your vids have contributed to the wealth of information and motivation I sought to keep going. I want to thank you for that! And to the folks who comment about their struggles and successes.. tremendous help also! Thank you, guys! You helped me change my life! You probably helped me save my life.

Acidosis? I had severe Arthritis and was only able to take 6 inch long steps and was declared disabled by my Doctor. I had two vertebra's spontaneously fuse together and was facing a final destination of a Wheel Chair. Finally I did a 3 day PH test, three times a day (from my saliva and urine) My Ph was 4.6 and that is/was very acid, so my Doctor missed the Acidosis part. So then I started taking baths in about 2 pounds of Soda and the first time I did this my Ph went up (overnight) to a Ph of 8, so I backed off a bit and monitored and kept my Ph at about 7 Ph and after a few weeks I was ale to take full steps/strides. That was 20 years ago and I am still doing good at near 72 years of age. Now of course I eat plenty of fresh vegetables and my Ph is ever so stable.

Acidic or alkaline foods reduce or increase the need for the body to compensate. Let’s say the body is compensating for acididy. Carbonic acid will be exhaled. However carbonic acid is needed in the body. If it get’s too low at a given time symptoms such as hyperventilation set in. Hence the benefit of foods that do not agravate this effect. The body has more (secundary) mechanisms of pH compensation. Inflammation acidifies the body due to the leucocyte’s catabolic enzymes. That is why people with chronic inflammatory diseases benefit from alkaline diets. If a person only eats such alkaline foods, the opposite can occur at certain point with symptoms such as difficulty inhaling. Since the carbonic acid/bicarbonate system is the most immediate pH compensation mechanism in the body, a good ideia would be to consume water rich in this mineral in a fasted state (because bicarbonate buffers stomach acid).
@Orholam5
@Orholam5 6 жыл бұрын
that's not how it works....what you eat doesn't affect any of the mechanisms of pH regulation in your blood and cells....your stomach might secrete more acid when you eat alkaline food but that's about it.....

I don’t think it’s about changing your ph - it’s about digesting foods that agree with your ph so you feel better. As a long time sufferer of acid reflux, I can say that getting in more alkaline foods has vastly helped me. 80% alkaline and 20% acidic.
@akashicenlightenment

What he doesn’t know is that acidic food stresses out the c reactive protein in the body. When c reactive protein cells are stressed they can create cancer, cardiovascular disease over time from the body working to much. It’s kinda a reap what you sow type of deal. Even acidic foods here and there can give negative effects after 30+ years of eating it. Cuz it stressing your c reactive protein cells to much. It kinda like when you damage tissue in your body you can’t repair that unless you have stem cell surgery. Only if the tissue is damaged enough. But alkaline foods keep the body in its original state and keep you from getting sick or viruses.

@Deco Electra you’re the arrogant one. You physically can’t change it; well you can… if you want to welcome death to your door. It’s tightly regulated for a reason. The medical term for an imbalance of bodily ph is referred to ‘alkalosis’ or ‘acidosis’ both of these conditions can/ will lead to death if not treated in time. Funny enough the simple consumption of foods be it acidic or alkaline won’t cause those problems… why? Because they have a negligible impact on overall body ph. Because it’s tightly regulated by our body and if any change was to occur (the main consensus of the diet) you would in fact die! Anecdotal evidence is not evidence that can be shown to prove something to others btw!

So why do all medically qualified doctors say this body PH nonsense is all utter BS snake oil? Arrogance doesn’t come into it, it’s a medical fact. When people talk about this subject, check whether they are actual qualified medical doctors. CHECK it because a lot of these people talking about this are “doctors” in chiropracting or another non medical quack-qualification designed to help sell you something. A simple way to check is that actual respected medical doctors don’t produce a line of vitamins or a paid diet plan or pdf which they sell to the public.

Most people in the comments are disagreeing with this video, which says a lot. I’ve been feeling acidic lately from drinking coffee and having 5-hr energy drinks this past week. This morning I decided to have steamed broccoli for breakfast and then had apple cider vinegar with baking soda added to it and within 30mins I could feel my muscles relax and acidic/inflammation sensation decrease. My eyes even feel a little better, which makes me wonder if I’ve been abusing my body with an acidic diet. CHAT GPT says there are negative symptoms associated with an acidic diet versus an alkaline diet.

@ohthethings
@ohthethings 3 жыл бұрын
Well that doesn't make much sense either. Following that logic, your body would become too alkaline and you'd have to eat acidic foods to rebalance your internal environment. The point is that your body *naturally* regulates it's pH levels and unless you're diabetic, the foods you eat make an extremely small impact on your overall pH. In short, the pH of your foods isn't the important component if your diet that you should be monitoring.

I am disappointed that this video says that the pH of blood remains the Same regardless of what you eat yet people with gout are strongly encouraged to eat an alkaline diet. Are you saying that all these medical studies about uric acid in the blood and how to reduce it is untrue? Most people who suffer from gout are put on allopurinol which reduces the body's production of uric acid. It would be great if you could address this issue.

There is no "Fixed" Ph for "the body". There's a whole range of fluid Phs levels - blood, stomach, intestine, kidneys, etc. (e.g. upper gut needs more acid to sterilize out the bioorganisms o specialize it for meat/fat digestion; lower gut needs a more mild Ph to support the microorganisms that ferment the carbs). All we can directly alter is the stomach Ph - use Betaine HCL or ACV. The body does the rest to set Ph in other areas as it needs to for proper signaling and function and immune system to fight diseases and foreign organisms. .

Not our body, but our blood is desing to function in pH between 7.35-7.45 :) Our cells have slightly acidic pH due to metabolic reactions which inside them. Every food will produce acid byproducts during metabolism, because they're organic compounds... Alkaline diet is fad. Your urine can change several times during a day. So is that mean Your body pH change several times during a day? Urine is not for measuring "body pH". If You want to know how our body regulates acid-alkaline check Henderson-Hasselbalch equation which explains how our buffers works. BTW our buffers are inexhaustible so You can't knock Your blood from it's proper pH in most situations and especially not because of food You're eating. Too much alkaline compounds in blood is called alkalosis.

You left out metabolic acidosis.... As a former athlete 15 years ago, I suffered from metabolic acidosis by too much exercising, I could recognize the symptoms by the constant hyperventilating, (among others)....You can also see this with people who exercise too much....when they talk, they seem to run out of breath very easily....... I used to drink bicarbonate soda, 1 tablespoon to remedy this back then....sometimes it would work but other times it did not....I also at that time went on the alkaline diet....for months, can't remember for how long....but there was very little improvement (the symptoms did not disappear) in my condition....Overall, the best solution for metabolic acidosis is to STOP training....There are other symptoms associated with Metabolic acidosis, but the hyperventilating is the hallmark symptom….

The first thing he said was that the body wants to maintain a pH between 7.2 and 7.4. This shows how little he knows about the pH diet. The correct statement would’ve been the blood wants to maintain that pH. The pH diet is about the interstitial fluid not the blood. The blood will do what it Hass to do to stay at that PH. The interstitial fluid in his 60% of your body‘s fluids. Doctors don’t talk about it they don’t measure it.

So many are telling people they can't change Ph but either don't know or don't tell them there is a difference between blood and fluid when it comes to what can be changed by the person.
@docrock9011
@docrock9011 6 жыл бұрын
Interstitial pH and blood pH are two very different things. The lungs and kidneys regulate the blood 7.35 to 7.45 and should always be within that range unless you have a medical condition disrupting it. That being said being at the higher range (by eating a more alkaline diet) increases oxygen carrying capacity and a host of other benefits. While you’re not completely wrong there are definite parts of this video that are incorrect.

Nevertheless, not all long term symptoms are evident in the short term. Also, if you are young, know that once the pruning its, your recovery metabolism will slow drastically. You do not have to take a ton of sodium bicarbonate to get good results, maybe a tsp or less when your ph is low. I know it works because I have Addison's which is associated with acidity, and after I take the baking soda, my ph goes up and so does my energy level. Having said that, I prefer to use baking soda cautiously as too much is rumored to cause things like kidney stones Lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, orange juice, wheatgrass or wheatgrass powder, tomato juice, dried fruits and greens will get you alkaline.

Diet is a factor, so it's a tricky area to study. Presumably, if the acid load exceeds the excretion capacity of the renal system, the body may be forced to compensate in other ways.

Most people eat highly acidic foods all day long. Most people need to consciously eat alkaline (veggies/less dairy/less acid) to stabilize their bodies’ health.

Thomas, I had my live and dry blood analysis done and was told that my blood cells are sticking together because I'm to acidic. I was told to eat more leafy greens and take baking soda twice a day on an empty stomach. After this video I'm very confused. So why was I told to take baking soda if you cant change your ph, and why would my blood cells be sticking together. Was this person just trying to sell me supplements? She also told me I'm mineral deficient. Thanks!

also check out his About page on his website. He has no academic credibility to back his claims. He’s not a nutritionist or a doctor. He’s just another bod builder trying to push his diet and routine for money. Now i’m not saying that i know an alkaline diet works, but if you’ve tried it and it works for you then don’t let some guy on youtube tell you not to do it.

This is the first time I disagree with Thomas's viewpoint in one of his published videos. I am a fan! However, I believe from personal experience and from watching those close to me that the body's cellular and intracellular pH - which can be very different from the blood or urinary pH - can greatly affect the body's health. Diet, in turn, greatly affects the cellular and intracellular pH of the body. A poor diet that burns acid in the body eventually CAN cause a more acidic cellular and intracellular pH. That is a root cause of chronic health issues, but it is NOT the only cause of chronic health issues. I agree that the urine pH is not a good measure of the body's cellular / intracellular pH, but salivary pH is a good measure.

It's secret remedy for You to wash-out all Your potassium from the body... You know, that baking soda has sodium in it? It's like salt. You'll excrete potassium like crazy if You overuse baking soda. You should supplement potassium if You want to do this kind of "therapy". Also, baking soda can be quite hard on stomach as it has very high pH and You know what happen when strong alkaline meets strong acid (stomach)? Lots of gasses and thermal reactions. You can also become to alkaline which is called alkalosis. It's as much harmfull as acidosis.

Thomas your completely correct when your talking about homeostasis but you cannot be more wrong about the types of food you eat. The acidity and alkaline is not only physical categories of food but also spiritual categories of food. And your gut micro biome is extremely sensitive to such categories, the body may not suffer as much to short term changes with dietary changes but your mind and soul, can definitely take a blow within hours of what you ate. All thanks to the 1kg of microbiota that lives in your body that also affect your mind and soul. Don’t forget the human body is more of a super organism rather than a mechanical machine. The body is not dictated by physicallities but is actually dictated by spirituality, the food that we eat all comes from living organisms which it self has a spirit like our gut. The physical side of the process might not impact our physical bodies health has much as the spiritual side would impact how we feel in a daily and momentary bases. It is naturally set at a 75/25% balance, the spirit being the 75%; dictating how the human actually feels. So mind your spirit and mind the spirit your ingesting will save you a lot of hot air from ‘doctors’,‘physicians’,and ‘self proclaimed doctors’. To put it in layman’s terms you go on your computer to look/access your KZbin account...(being your spirituality)...no one goes to their computer and opens up the hard drive to look at the transistor and switches inside of it (being your physical). See your spirit as the software, and see your physical as the hardware... looking at the human body in that perspective can save you a lot of confusion that doctors are having now. And they are spreading nothing but confusion when they look at the hardware and tell people they can manage their accounts by playing with the computer’s switches... it is almost impossible to even log in your KZbin and see your contents with out the software.

You don't recommend people eat a lot of fruit? Does this include nutritious savoury fruits such as tomato, avocado, pumpkin, squash, chilli, cucumber, zucchini, and eggplant? Savoury fruits contain considerably less sugar than the popular sweet fruits.

You're explaining what's happening with eating alkaline foods and acid foods. So what happens when you eat constant acid foods? Why do people take Tums? If your blood level is 7.3 and its alkaline you all what you eat why would you eat acid acid makes mucus and mucus makes disease you should teach about the degrees of what comes from acid foods meaning mucus and all other things that come from it as well as disease. People that are under the pH of 7 have a lack of iron and that iron is from dead animals plant-based iron is magnetic which pools in all the other minerals it is called burdock.

THAT IS A 41 % DIFFERENCE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FOURTYONE PERCENT !!!!! listen man i love you but this time you forgot to do the math: the PH value is the decadic logarithm of the concentration of H+ ions. PH 7,3 means 10^(-7,3) mole/liter PH 7,45 means 10^(-7,45) The ratio of these concentrations is 10^(0,15), which is 1,41! If the diet can only slightly have an impact on that it is absolutely ludicrous to call that minute. as a matter of fact, the thought that the acidic concentration in the blood stream can alter by over 40% without causing instant death is mind blowing. also alkaline nutrition doesnt mean the food is alkaline. it means it is metabolised in a way that leaves alkaline result on the blood after the enzymes are done. And alkaline nutrition in that sense has healed my knee joint.

You know, what I understand is that if you are a healthy vegan, one does not eat meat, which is sour to the body. Might not effect the bodies PH but still, eating alkaline foods in this way still seems the best way to go. I am not a vegan. Thats a big reason healthy vegans are more healthy, because they dont eat acid foods.

I get it that your blood ph can't change between 7.3-7.4, but will a high alkaline diet THEN require less energy needed by the body to achieve neutral ph? Let's say there's a finite amt of 'fuel' your body has available each day - let's call it 2 gallons worth. Say based on traditional American high acidic diet, body spends 1 gallon of fuel achieving neutral pH, which only leaves 1 gallon for all other functions. By lessening the amt of acid or increasing the amt of alkaline, will that leave more fuel for focus, muscle building, energy, brain function etc?
