IITJEE. NEET Doubts forgot IIT, if you wanna get a decent college in India, you have to be expert in organic chemistry. They will ask the conversions involving multiple reactions

How come no-one ever shows the actual mechanism invloved for this reaction?
@19RichieJCook5 жыл бұрын
It's not fully understood and therefore, most professors don't require the mechanism for this reaction; however, because it's a commonly used reaction, they require you to know the product that is generated from a reaction with KMnO4.
@chaitanyagambali61134 жыл бұрын
Oxidation-Reduction reactions are very fast in nature which does not give us enough time to study the kinetics of the reaction and investigate its mechanism. We know the exact mechanism for very few oxidation reduction mechanisms.

hi sir, i dont think one can consider a mirror plane as shown in the beginning of the video as cyclohexane exists in chair form and not planar form. cis 1,2 dihydroxy cyclohexane is disymmetric and hence chiral . However it exists as a non resolvable d-l pair since both isomers exists in an 1:1 enantiomeric excess . so it doesnt show a net optical activity ..

At 7:35 shouldn't the methyl group be oxidized to carboxylic acid too. Or does it only happen in benzene only.
