I am Moy fanboy... can't hide it and when I saw the bracket I was disappointed, cause Alkolil was in beastmode in Silverback Open. Well the battle was fairy close. 1st round goes to Moy, 2nd round to Alkolil and the 3rd round it was close, but Moy just quit it. He did the same thing in 2005 against Hong 10. If he push it more in the 3rd round he may have a chance, cause Alkolil wasn't in his best form and also he underestimated Moy. I think judges also build up to my opinion as Alkolil won 3:2. Nevertheless respect for Moy keeping it on the high level for decades! Peace!

In 2005 Moy was robbed by the judges vs a young Hong 10. Twelve years later the judges robbed him of a win vs Alkolil. I'm a fan of Alkolil, but he was not very on point here and didn't show me too much outside of a couple questionably executed blow-ups. Moy showed way more versatility and variety. For me 2-0 Moy (round 3 tie).

Moy is too fast, he is always full speed from start to finish, he only has one rythm, and that is a major problem, he needs to learn to play with rhythms, it will make him much more enjoyable to watch, he needs to go Full speed then slow motion / different rythm / freeze (audience can then applaud or catch their breath, a needed mental break to appreciate what's coming next) then maybe full speed again then slow then full speed again and finish, not only this will make him twice as dope, but it will also make his rounds longer (short rounds is one of his main problems too, like taisuke, but taisuke at least has very slow footwork which instantly contrasts with his blazing speed once he is on the ground, taisuke also uses short stops in the middle of his rounds), with moy however it's just FULL SPEED FROM START to FINISH, how can you not learn to mix different rythms after 20+ years bboying.. it's too bad, i really like moy.

You’re talking about contrast and while I agree to an extent, you can see the contrast in the shapes he creates. His approach is needed, much like contrasting is important in movement it’s also needed in our scene in the form of different approaches and 20+ years of breaking maybe you should just trust him ?

Yes there is contrast in his moves, you are talking about levels, he is really dope with levels, if you don't play with levels, you will end like "lussy sky" always on the ground, or"bboy pocket" always in the air, moy doesn't have this problem at all, on the other hand he has a problem with the dancing rhythm, this has nothing to do with "trust", or approaches, it's just a basic foundation not only of bboying but of all the dances, if you don't "stop" and play with different rythms , your story and round is monotone and seems mechanical , in the case of moy it also makes his rounds very short and he looks "Fully scripted" from a to z, you can also use stops and short slow rythms to interact with your opponent or the crowd, have you ever seen moy interacting with an opponent in the middle of a round ? it never happens, he is fully concentrated on executing his premade set, at the expense of the battle aspect of the dance too.. taisuke and cloud are blazing fast dancers too, however because the stop, change rythms and interact with opponents , their rounds are much more enjoyable.

I can definitely see what you mean, and while I agree that it's certainly good to see some rhythm changes in battles, I think it's kind of his trademark now after all this time. His footwork at full speed is a marvel to behold and cannot be easily replicated by just any bboy. Moy comes from an era when long rounds were not the norm, and the way I see it, while his rounds are certainly shorter than the average BC One competitor, they still have a good amount of content. They only look short because of the speed at which he executes them. A slower bboy like say, Bruce Almighty, can do the same amount of moves in a longer timeframe, and while that certainly may seem like a good thing to many (including me), Dyzee always maintained that as long as you make your point, round length doesn't matter that much.

Daniel Coben Good analysis in the last comment. That's the thing about many U.S based Bboys from back in the day. It was once move for move battles and slowly went to blow ups, more creative styles and the blending of power with footwork ( Moy being an example of this in FSS 6 where he used to do a leg sweep into an airflare ) but it never evolved into the scale of what the international people from Europe and Korea were doing with longer sets while at the same time incorporating blow up after blow up. It's barely started to change with some Bboys out here. I think at the same time there comes a point in time where your responsibility as an adult becomes more important and you slowly begin to fade away from the scene compared to other countries.
