I’m sorry but Saw 3D should be at the very bottom lol. The movie literally does everything fucking wrong from a filmmaking perspective, from a Saw movie perspective, it literally does NOTHING fucking right. At least with Jigsaw, it actually had people that deserved to be tested (Anna suffocating her baby to death and framing her husband for murdering said baby and causing him to commit suicide, and Carly stealing purses and causing the death of an asthmatic woman). You can’t deny that it at least nails the Saw aspect. It succeeds from a Saw movie perspective.

@@walkupe I agree with you that saw 3D is a shit movie, it’s dumb has bad 3d Effects and a lot of character decisions are very strange but for me it has a ton of so bad its good watchability. Hoffman is one of my favorite characters and watching him say/do corny shit is one of my favorite aspects of the series. Jigsaw on the other hand was dumb but not in a fun way, visually it doesn’t look like a saw movie despite Spiral and Saw X both being able to do this years later. The plot twist is one of the worst in the whole franchise, in concept it’s cool but in execution makes no fucking sense. So the whole game we see in the movie is set in the past being one of Johns first traps yet all of the equipment, tvs and technology looks like modern day. That makes the twist not work for me because there’s actually no way for you to guess it since visually the film lies to you for the entire run time. Adding another apprentice to the continuity is so dumb after previously establishing 3 already, and as a villain I wasn’t all that impressed with him, which is why it annoys me that he was involved with making the reverse Bear trap. Also how the fuck did John hear a baby being smothered from a house away with the windows shut? Also how the fuck did he know how much change was in the woman’s purse that was stolen? I get that you have to suspend your disbelief with how much John knows about his victims but it felt especially unreal in this movie. Overall I just had a bad experience watching this movie, it feels like the black sheep of the franchise attempting to do a soft reboot without connecting it to the original continuity at all just making up its own bullshit so new fans don’t have to worry about the convoluted story from the previous films.

Jigsaw is my number 4 as well, I loved it and think it's actually quite an ambitious film tbh. It looks totally different to most of the other saw movies which don't look great cinematically in my opinion whereas jigsaw has great cinematography and was just a very entertaining saw film all around imo.

I see Jigsaw as a palette cleanser. After you watch Saws 1-7, Jigsaw is where you get to breathe a see a different type of entry, one that follows the tropes, but has spices of its own. It’s kind of like watching Jason Goes to Hell right after watching the first eight Friday the 13th films, in that series you watch 8 back-to-back entries that are similar overall, then get a film that does something different while keeping the staples of the series. So Jigsaw gets points for that.

I love Saw 4. It has the most sympathetic protagonist, a fun detective story with Strahm (and some of his best moments), has one of the best twists in the series (the time twist, which to me rivals the ending of Saw 1), the autopsy scene is knarly, there’s quite a few memorable traps (Scalping Seat and Ice Block Trap for starters), and it has my favorite ending, by revealing Hoffman to be an apprentice combining with the duel games converging and ending followed by the autospy again with new context, it just puts a huge smile on my face, especially knowing what follows in Saws 5 and 6 really makes me appreciate it way more for setting up so much (it’s similar to how over time I’ve come to like Age of Ultron more due to how much it set up in the long run).

My ranking is a rarer one. For full context, there’s a few things to note. 1st off, the only film in the series I don’t like is Saw 7. Spiral is still good as a film, it’s just not a good Saw film. 2nd thing to note is after my ninth spot, the rest come down to personal preference. Saw 1 is still a horror classic, but the things I love about the series were either started or refined in the sequels, especially the villians. So keep that in mind regarding where I placed Saw 1 at. Furthermore, I find Saw 3 and Jigsaw to be more entertaining and rewatchable than Saw 1, but not by much. 3rd and most important thing to consider is that Mark Hoffman is my favorite character, which is huge factor (but not the only one) in where I placed Saws 4-6. Saw X required me to see it twice in theaters before placing it in my ranking. So then… 10. Saw VII 9. Spiral 8. Saw 7. Saw III 6. Jigsaw 5. Saw II 4. Saw IV 3. Saw X 2. Saw VI 1. Saw V And no, I refuse to call the seventh film anything other than Saw 7, the 3D was unnecessary and calling it “The Final Chapter” is an insult to Friday the 13th.

I found Saw X to be enjoyable and serve its purpose as intended, but it was also really disappointing. The gore was what you would hope for, but the movie was just more of the same crap that the franchise turned into instead of what made it great and compelling at the start. It was a real chance to jump back and do something more unique like the first movie while still maintaining the known Saw traits, but instead we just had more of some bad characters and some poor stroytelling here and there, as well as some traps that they continuously try to make far more elaborate than Jigsaw would be able to actually put together. However, the general premise is lots of fun and satisfying to get into (even moreso I would say to the similar premise in Saw 6), and absolutely most importantly is that this is the best Tobin Bell has been as John Kramer by a wide right mile. If this does happen to be his last time playing the character, man what a swan song; it's a fantastic acting performance overall, not just for this role/franchise. He most definitely deserves all the heaps of praise he gets for this performance. His best performance as Jigsaw, as opposed to Kramer (if that makes sense) was probably in one of the first three movies. I look forward to watching it again, but I found it to be a darn letdown overall.

Thanks for making this rank list. I think I'm going to watch this series, I've been wanting to for a while. I saw the first 4 I think, then didn't watch any after that. I get the general idea of each movie, but I haven't actually watched them from start to finish.

I have the same top 3 as you with just 1&2 swapped around. I also have saw 3 pretty low for similar reasons of killing off John and Amanda so soon and the main guy going through the trap, I just didn’t care enough about him. He was annoying. I do have the Hoffman films higher though cause I’m a Hoffman lover 😂

Its crazy how everyones ranking are so different. I highly disagree with his ranking. Spiral and jigsaw are at the bottom for me. Saw 2, Saw 6 and Saw 10 should get all the praise. Those just hit different and definitely should be at the top of everyones list.

Saw 6 is a legendary entry in the series. It pays off so much from Saws 3-5, it has a powerful message about the health care system, it’s satisfying to see the guy who designed the policies get what was coming to him, and it has probably the most badass ending of seeing Hoffman improvise a way out a trap intended to be unwinnable. It’s a film that has me grinning from start to finish.

For one thing, I cannot give you a ranking because I don’t have to play favorites if I do that and I don’t believe in plant favorites but jigsaw takes place in 2003 so it gives us one on the first game is that John Kramer dead voice here, as not, just flashbacks And all that going on and that’s why I think this one is one of the best movies that he was in it keeps saying jackhammers Dad know he is alive know he is dunno he is alive know he’s dead he’s a hlife and for one thing, it never showed him being dead, so what’s the point of that , so basically, I got no role problem with any of these movies so I hope that you realize they cannot give you a ranking. I am just open to the idea of me and Junio Oregon. I just cannot do all the ones I had to play favorites, so I am sorry I can’t do that.
