This is one of the best Star Wars analysis videos I've ever seen. I love your style of narration, the way you examine each film in-depth, and how your passion for the franchise permeates every sentence. Even when I disagreed with some of your placements, I was impressed by your meticulous research and level of historical knowledge. Not to mention the way you splice in clips is hilarious! 😂 My ranking and overall thoughts are surprisingly similar to yours, just with a few movies switched around: 1. The Empire Strikes Back 2. A New Hope 3. Revenge of the Sith 4. Return of the Jedi 5. Rogue One 6. Solo 7. The Force Awakens 8. Attack of the Clones 9. The Phantom Menace 10. The Rise of Skywalker 11. The Last Jedi 12. The Clone Wars

I'm amazed how each of the 3 main Disney movies just remade each of the original trilogy.

Amazingly enough, I wasn't properly introduced to "The Last Jedi" via the film, though I did walk in on the last 10 minutes while the rest of my family were watching it. Rather, I read the novelisation, by Jason Fry. It's a general trend that the Star Wars novelisations are very good adaptations, and needless to say, Prose!Episode VIII is the definitive version compared to the movie, incorporating massive expansions to the characters of the main cast, making the movie's rampant tone shifts more fluid, and even including a bunch of namedrops to previous Disney!Expanded Universe works (without making them required reading, that is). The end result is a story that, while still having the film's conceptual shortcomings (such as Luke's scatterbrained motivations sticking) and having to bend over backwards to properly structure the "deconstruction", nonetheless succeeds at being an entertaining read in its own right. In that regard, it's a lot like the novelisations of Doctor Who's classic run by Target Books; they don't excuse the original thing, but they do at the very least make the story presentable. Of course, the fact that a big budget franchise like Star Wars even NEEDS to be propped up by superior adaptations should not happen at all. Unfortunately, I haven't read the novelisation for "The Rise of Skywalker", but I did go to the cinema with my family to view it. I can't really remember much about the actual viewing; it didn't make anything that stood out, and just looked like a generic space opera flick which somehow made Darth Sidious the Senate, one of the best schemers in movie history, an idiot who livestreams his return on Fortnite and promptly forgets to archive it properly. I've seen Doctor Who plots that are more interesting, and one of them, "The Timeless Children", boasts what I think is the worst exposition dump in Television and Cinema history (the actual twist I don't mind). At least the movie's twist (as low-effort and out of left-field as it was) didn't tank the pacing, but still, I do think that Episode IX (and the trilogy as a whole) should have hired an experienced writer as a creative director. Timothy Zahn comes to mind. The same goes for "Attack of the Clones", though thankfully, I've got the novelisation by R. A. Salvatore on hand. I was a child when I watched the movie though, and back then, I hadn't got into reading properly, so as of writing, the book remains unread. Maybe one day, I'll see how Salvatore's experience with "The Legend of Drizzt" lends to Lucas' vision. As for Solo, I enjoyed both the novel and the film in equal measure. Like you say, it's a decent romp, and you can get some enjoyment from it. From this point, I don't really have much to say for the other movies: With "The Force Awakens", the film was okay, but I preferred the LEGO game. "Return of the Jedi" is mostly filler, but the battle set pieces and the conflict between Luke and Vader are cool. "Rogue One" is awesome, warts and all. "The Phantom Menace" is a charming movie to rewatch for me, though Jar Jar baffles me. He gets better in "The Clone Wars". As for the final three, all of them are pretty much perfect in my eyes, though I very much agree with your putting "Revenge of the Sith" as the top entry. Chances are that without viewing it, I would never have become the avid fan of anime and video games that I am now. Overall, a very solid list, and it always astounds me how much character you put into them. I particularly enjoyed the intros; I never even knew that Disco Vader and the Dance Troupe...ers were even a thing.

Impressive breakdown. I disliked Episode 1 because there was more gloss than substance and I disliked episodes 2 and 3 because I could not believe the cute kid from episode 1 could turn into the moody taciturn bloke in 2 and 3, but I believed the cute kid could become the bloke at the end of episode 6. Maybe there were two Annakin Skywalkers. Episode 4 hits all the right notes for a great adventure film; and 5 seriously ups the ante. 6 starts to fragment, but holds enough together for a classic finale; 7 was an unimaginative rehash of 4; 8 had good ideas, the best being Luke's questioning of the Jedi concept; 9 plunged into the abyss. Solo tediously ticked boxes and Rogue One is for me the outstanding underdog entry, a future classic

This is a fun ranking with some witty commentary. I do not get the hate for clones, its an acquired taste yes, but it should switch places with Force Awakens (the root of the deplorable sequel failure) and then with Phantom Menace.

I don't have ranks. I have tiers. At the bottom is the Sequel Trilogy, which is literally bad fanfiction. It breaks with the lore so much in the way characters are changed to their detriment to the way the universe works. Honestly. in every movie, lightspeed is broken, the Force is broken, and the characters' personalities alter so they can fail, even the new ones. I rate them all a 3 because of the visuals and because I have seen worse. Rogue One and Solo are at a 5. I enjoy them even though they, too, are fanfiction, but better written. I've never watched them and thought they were how previous events in Star Wars history actually went down. The Prequels are a solid 8. I've grown to like their stories enough to the point where I wouldn't change any part of them, not even the acting. The Original Trilogy is a 10. They are perfect on their own but fit well with the sequels. The six movies George Lucas created are the only ones I acknowledge as canon. There is another tier. And on Tier 11 sits the original Original Trilogy, bad effects and all. On this tier, Jabba the Hutt is not introduced until Return of the Jedi, Boba Fett's original, menacing voice is heard, Darth Vader's emotions play out over his mask while he watches the Emperor attempt to murder his son without him saying, "No." These movies tell a complete story, one where I can imagine Obi-Wan Kenobi's adventures with Anakin and how Anakin became Darth Vader, Han Solo's previous adventures with Chewbacca and how they met, Darth Vader hunting down the Jedi, Leia growing up on Alderaan with her mother. Although I do think the new 4Ks are pretty.

I'd never watched "The Spy who Loved Me", so when that was ranked the best Bond film I was surprised but willing to accept it as an unusual but reasoned and rational opinion. Seeing Episode 3 ranked above both Empire and the original 1977 Star Wars here though, I realize you just put absurd options as Number One to drive controversy and engagement to help your channel in the algorithm. Play it straight man, you do good work, it stands on its own.

This is a very solid list but I feel you give The Phantom Menace far too much credit. The dialogue is stiff, the characters are underwritten, the pacing is sluggish, and the plot falls apart upon any inspection. I find there is little to actually like in the film outside of the pod racing and the Duel of the Fates. And I say that as someone who had this as his favorite Star Wars film as a kid.

You are wrong because The last Jedi is the ultimate Star Wars movie as Star Wars is about George Lucas and his struggle with autism that is why Luke killed Kylo as when you have autism you go from 0 to 100 in anger so you do stuff that you later regret that is what last Jedi is about and if it really did disrespect everything Lucas worked on then why would he be positive on the film
