the fact that you gave 5 stars to the alchemist is just whoa here in brazil we usually hear people say paulo coelho's writing isn't that good, but translators improve it A LOT, so his fame outside brazil is basically due to the hard work of dedicated translators. shout out to these professionals
@evewithwonder3 жыл бұрын
I read the Alchemist as a teen. It was an easy to understand book and I think it had a good message. His writing style is just simple, and a little fable-like. Some people might not like it, but I think that it's a writing style that can help people to finish a book when they are not readers. Not all writing can be beautifully poetic.

@@vickyengler21 because you can read something and recognize the writing ability without having to agree with said beliefs. There were several great men who were openly sexist and yet their thoughts were worthy of praise (not the sexist one). 16:29 Okay so a bit of backstory, in Croatia we have 2 books a month that we are obligated to read in highschool every year and then on the end of the final year, we have a huge state exam and need to know everything about every book we read (basically). We read Franz Kafka's Metamorphosis and i just wanna say that there is a lot more to the book than just a bizzare storyline of a man waking up as an insect. It portrays a family that lost every bit of normal relations and you see how Gregor isn't valued as a family member despite that he is the only one who is working and providing for his family and the end just shows how broken that family is. It's like a metaphor for a familiy that is just so broken that they decide to get rid of their member just because he is disabled and "an inconveniece". I honestly think that this book is one of my favourite books i have ever read and i think everyone should read it. ☆☆☆☆☆

yeah I thought that too when 2020 started. I thought, lets start easy. lets do 1 book per month. Ended up reading 59 books due to the pandemic.

Jack could probably build / fill up a mini library if he collects every physical copy of books he read

14:04 I've read this book twice, once for school and once voluntarily. I literally sat in the same exact spot on my dining room floor for 3 hours reading and annotating it cover to cover. The scene that really gets me is towards the end when one guy is playing his violin in the snow😭😭

So much Hemingway! I grew up in a small town in Arkansas where Hemingway lived for a while, within walking distance from his home, and so much of my upbringing included him that these days I can't read anything by him without having horrible flashbacks. 😂
