These wand woods are based on the Ogham Tree Calendar, each month has a tree assigned to it so for example Dec 24th to Jan 20th is Birch, the next is Rowan etc. There are 13 wands as there are 13 months in the Ogham. Pretty cool.

I think the elder wand original looks more like a wand given by death than the one Dumbledore used and we all know today. They are quite cool wands, now they have elaborate them more, but very lovely. Thanks for sharing.

I was not chosen for the official wand ceremony but the employee at Ollivander's did talk to me and do a mini wand assessment as everyone was walking into the store. I was told to purchase an Ash wand. I also just looked up the Tree Calendar mentioned in the comments and this is the wand that matches up with my birthdate!! So cool. Also, Ash trees are one of my favorites :)

I’m born in October, but the Holly wand was the wand that chose me. I was about ten at the time and it was truly a magical experience. This was only about four years ago so it was interactive. While I knew it wasn’t “real” magic, it was still one of the coolest experiences of my life. I’m going back to Universal for the second time soon, and I’m bringing back my wand and taking my seven year old sister to get her own. Such an amazing experience for any Potterhead!

Hey Peter, my birthmonth is October and I would definitely choose that wand. It is really pretty. The handle is the handle of Umbridge's wand, but the pink pearl is wood here. Really love it.

There’s 13 because of the Tree Calendar is based off of the moon cycle so there is 13 instead of 12! Each one has a meaning and personality for people born under that moon! I talk about it frequently on my channel, and other wandlore, but it’s really cool to see what characters match the Tree Calendar and what ones don’t! And the cultural meaning of the wood too and how that relates to the witch or wizard! 🪄💖 Have a wand-erful day!

I know this is an old video but I have some tips. When I went recently I spoke to one of the helpers she asked me a bunch of questions to help choose my wand, she gave me the reed wand, which happened to be the wand the Harry Potter app gave me. When I was little I got the June (Hawthorne) wand, I feel like its almost like zodiacs where just because you were born during that month doesn't make your personality solely that. So I recommend asking for help and hopefully the person you get is as helpful as mine was.

Hi! I have some tips on how to get chosen: 1. Dress in full on hogwarts attire. Cosplay if you can. GO ALL OUT. Wear anything you have from the robes to earrings. 2. Go to the human resources/ customer services office near the entrance of the park and get a happy birthday pin. The people are really nice, and everyone in the park wishes you a happy birthday. These also really help, and have gotten me chosen on my 11th, 12th, and 13th birthdays. 3. Smile. I don't know why, but the "ollivanders" love happy people. Just express the joy you feel to be there. So I just went to Ollivander's yesterday. I was picked for the wand ceremony too and I also was chosen by an Alder wand. Same as you it is definitely not one I would have picked for myself but also like you I had to by it because it chose me. I am a Gryffindor so here's hoping it will serve me well despite looking very much like a Slytherin wand.

I think the reason to have 13 wands was just so they could have a special one, hence it being called the Elder wand. I’m assuming it was more difficult to find the Elder wand.

I was chosen for the wand ceremony at the Ollivanaders in Osaka, Japan 3 years ago (I'm pretty sure they chose me because I was the only western woman in the group, ha). However, the wand was completely different than my original given wand on Pottermore and I didn't care for it, so I didn't buy it. I'm not usually one for attention as I get enough stares already being a foreigner living in Asia. But it was a fun experience. One day I'd love to go to the HP park in Orlando.

My birth month is November. I love the handle of that wand. When I saw the September wand, I was going to say that spoke to me of those already shown as I loved that handle, so I am happy to see that November shares the same one. I don't like the shaft of the November wand though, so the September wand is definitely the one that speaks to me. I love the brown and wavy shaft. It really complements the handle.

Hi Peter! I remember those original wands like it was yesterday! My first trip to the Wizarding World was back in 2011, I was about 7 or 8 years old. I was chosen for the wand experience and all the wands were in their original form at the time. The vine wand was the one that chose me and I love it. It was actually the first wand I ever got and it ignited the collector inside of me. About 12 years later I've collected 45 wands. I'm really happy I went to the Wizarding World before they changed all the wands to interactive. I love the interactive wands, I think it's a fun idea, but I was disappointed that they completely discontinued the original Ollivander wands. I would have collected all of them! How were you able to get your hands on them? I have two interactive Ollivander wands, mostly because my fist interactive wand's sensor got chipped. Also, the Rowan wand shaft is similar to Fleur Delacour's wand. They are beautiful wands!

I just got back from my first time going to universal studios. We got the park to park tickets so we went to both Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade. I wanted to go to the wand choosing in both Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley once each. So we did. And I got picked. Both times. We went to the Hogsmeade one first where I got the alder wand and in the Diagon Alley Ollivanders I got the vine wand. I did buy both and I love them both. For those of you wondering, I'm a Gryffindor and was fully decked out in Hogwarts robes the whole time we were there.

Both my husband and I were chosen (on the same day but different time sessions) for the wand choosing experience in World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios Japan in 2017. I got the January wand and my husband got the April wand. It was such a wonderful experience! My husband was a complete muggle but he was very thrilled to be chosen and he didn't think twice about purchasing the wand that chose him. He's a Ravenclaw now. And I am squealing inside because I figured out the mystery word now!!! But since Peter casted his silencing spell, I can't reveal it.
