I been rocking the Lance. I really enjoy it even though it seems to be mid tier. I like how I need to be very intentional with my attacks but if I catch the right rhythm I'm continually attacking the monster. Very satisfying.

Hunting horn IS a support weapon actually, a support weapon that bonks monsters super hard but a support weapon. It's not a downside it's actually really great and one of the reasons I love hunting horn.

I used to play with the longsowrd since MHW & iceborne expansion and it is so satisfaying that you can counter attck every hit from the monster at the same time dealing a massive damage

Been using lance even in iceborne, and i have to say that i kinda miss the counter grapple and the faster response of the lance from world iceborne. Felt like it was a greek warrior that was using the lance 🙂 Like rise too cause of other moves like instablock 😀

For me Charge Blade and Switch Axe I use a lot followed by the long sword ,Hunting horn ,Gun Lance and HBG.

I just wanna see people compare defensive aspects of a weapon i.e the shields. lance, gunlance, blocking with the greatsword(practically big nuff to be a shield), sword and shield, shield and sword mode of charge blade(with and without the buff).

Worst to Best would be : Sword and Shield - It's for emergencies only. Not the best shield in the game but can somewhat reduce damage. Greatsword, my beloved - A situational one as well which is slightly lower on the "shielding" scale and eats sharpness like there's no tomorrow. Also staggers and breaks composure after getting hit by a strong attack (Recoil). Charge Blade - Timing the "Guard Point" (forgot the name) can outright negate some of the damage if you time it right, of course. Shield buff is for axe mode damage, I think. And reduced damage during shields. Gunlance - Traded some of that defensive capabilities for more firepower. Still confused to this day as to why it doesn't have the lance shielding but balancing I guess... And of course, the Lance. Its like the monster isn't even trying at this point. And as a wise man once said : "One does not simply dodge attacks with a Lance, but rather, welcome it." And "Youre a brick wall WITH LEGS! Stop complaining about not being able to DODGE!" With the proper decos, they would all function the same though somewhat different. And to be honest, the Lance and Gunlance usually were the only weapons worth getting the Guard and Guard Up decos for. The others should just focus on more damage or other stuff.

Lance and Gunlance main. I couldn't use anything else. Countering with the lance, and getting that final kill stab is such a rewarding feeling. Getting off explosions with the gunlance makes you feel like a badass. I wouldn't dream of using anything else. The learning curve is steep but god tier once you master them.

My first main weapon was LS. I just can't get into it anymore even though it's become far more fun than just chop chop swing swing backswing . . . yeah. And I did start in MH1 but I didn't get far so that's why I count LS which I used in MHFU. Once I got pretty far I started using HH. In MH Tri I used a bit of everything, I really wanted to try everything. In MHP3rd I used HH, SA, GL, and SNS. That's where I truly got into SNS it's so much fun! In 4U obviously I used IG and CB, but also HH again as it's been my go-to forever. World was IG, HH, and DS. Rise is something I haven't tried since FU, which is I'm trying to make every final weapon for the weapons I love. I started doing this on Switch, then tried on PC, now I'm going to finally succeed on PS. My weapons of choice are SNS, DB, HH, < Hammer on PC but still need to work on it again on PS >, and IG. Through all of the games, the weapons I'm best at are HH and IG. I have the mechanics down the best for those and I didn't even realize I've been using SNS wrong, since it can parry and I didn't use that. I started playing MHFZ recently and I don't enjoy HH in it. I guess I've become too used to modern HH and honestly if it weren't for the unique hunts I probably wouldn't play it at all since the movement and attacks feel really slow and heavy. MH2 framework so it's expected, but it's still difficult.

I play long sword for two reasons. One, I prefer to play alone and get crap for playing LS when I join teams. Two i like playing reactionary. I like dodging out of the way of an attack without knowing the attack pattern. Longsword dual blades and bow are best at keeping up DPS while dodging at the last second. But of the three I can get the highest numbers with LS.

Lance is my go to. Close second is GL, followed by Hammer and GS. I just don't have the patience for positioning and well, thinking required by other weapons so the aggression lance let's you have suits me perfectly. Sure it's not flashy but the flash of lance isn't in it's attacks, but it's defense. I do wish they brought back the ranged power stab from GU though. Would've been a sick silkbind or switch skill.

I wish I didn't have autism because the weapon I enjoy the fantasy the most which is lance is also one of the weapons I get the slowest hunts with so I'm always somewhat upset about my bad times, especially in comparison to what I know I can pull off when using other weapons. If I didn't have autism I'd be able to just enjoy the gameplay and not give a fuck about how efficient or not I am.

In the end game gunlance doesn't get weaker Caoslayer and Ryo are big Gunlance users especially Ryo. Since TU3 and the sneak attack becoming a decoration and the chaotic gore gunlance is such a huge increase for DPS builds especially with aerial gunlance with hail cutter getting a huge buff it's been performing better than most of the 14 weapons.

you can't use them THAT often, but yeah usually the attacks they add are pretty valuable. most of the time you'll just be using your regular attacks.

Honestly whatever seems the most fun to you. People generally say longsword and dual blades are very beginner friendly, I think hammer is too. Honestly tho any weapon will get easier the more you play it so. Go have fun! You can always just change weapons anyways so it's not a commitmeny

just go into the train yard and test different weapons there. after you found one you liked watch some vids about that and go right after hunting. dont wonder if you dont have all abilities. Some come later.

As others speak, try different weapons in training ground. From my experience all of the weapons are actually complex on its own. Even the so called beginner friendly weapons are actually just easy to use, but all of them are hard to master. Below would be my personal advice to newbie and players that bad in the game. 1. Try not to follow builds from content creator. You can refer but you don't copy 100%. Most content creators prioritize offensive skills for speedrun purpose. They are what we called "glass cannon". They has been keep trying and failed and repeat until they get the best result without getting any hits. 2. Pick defensive skills and utility skills over damage skills. For slow weapons, you can always pick quick sheathe. Or divine blessing. Bloodrite + partbreaker can be your good friend as well. Drain level1 can make monster tiring thus they will rest and stop moving after awhile. Slugger level1 is good enough for blunt weapon to stun monster easier. 3. Bring more traps. Always take a shock trap and pitfall trap in every loadout. 4. Customize well your pet partners. Both cat and doggy are useful. Cat for utility and dog for damage. 5. If you are still cart always... then you can try sns first. SnS can guard, bash and stun with shield, eat foods/potions with weapon unsheathe. The only downside is their damage might slightly lower than others, and also their weapon reach is kinda short. But once you mastered it, SnS dps could be on par with others as well. 6. If you still think SnS is hard... you might as well just go for charge blade no brainer playstyle which the one that nonstop keep chainslash to air. That build is just...no brainer. Lol... you can search for it. If you cant get it, reply here I can search for you.

i loved monster hunter world but i am afraid i cannot stand MHR... the adtion of that just bug thing that flings you about is just stupid and clumsy and unless your an absolute ocd Genius you wont ever use it in a fight,,, and because of that the combat sucks cause the game is built around that fucking mechanic. it used to be sooo easy to mount monsters just charge and jump(with lance). then kick the crap outta them .. now you got this stupid ride mechanic? you can smash the m,onster into a wall ? lol. anyone reading this ignore rise and just play Monster hunter World it is by far a better game.

my guy.. I was a speedrunner in mhw and still practice now and again. Patterns DO matter. You can see the initial frames of a monster's attack, and if you're well enough acquainted with them, know exactly how you can make the best out of that and abuse it, especially with weapons like GS where noticing a pattern can make you start the charge much faster and head sniping.
