On #8 I think you took an improper drop. You should have kept it on the same side of the path... Anyway, nearest point of relief that is no closer to the hole... Mark, I enjoy your channel and thanks for reviewing the local courses...

Appreciate the support! And yeah for the free relief, I always just make sure that it’s never closer to the hole but wanted 2 feet on grass too. So took a club length backwards but def got a tough lie. Oh well, that’s golf!

I agree, my friends and I used to play Old Hickory every year, and buy the round using special offers from GolfStyles or Black Friday. But we stopped because conditions became so bad; it's a shame.

That type of conditioning is one reason I threw in the towel and joined a club.

That course has gone massively downhill. I refuse to ever play there again. Last time I played, they put out a tournament onto the course in front of us without any notice. I think it was hole 8, suddenly there were three groups on that hole….We walked off after 9.

I lived in Lake Ridge for a decade but wasn't really into golf so I just puttered around at the 9 hole par three they had down there. After moving closer to DC and really getting into the sport, I've thought about going back and playing Old Hickory but most reviews I see about it say it is way overpriced for the conditions. Did you feel like you were getting good value for what you paid?

@@patface we played 1757 a few weeks ago, first time for 10 years, really enjoyed it. It’s a great test of golf, really gets you away from pulling driver every hole and trying to bomb it.

I absolutely love this course but the last time I played there it had gone downhill. The layout is awesome but it needs to TLC.

Agree 100% and my EXACT thoughts hah! Really stinks because bull run and raspberry falls (the sister courses to this) are in very good shape. Don’t know why they can’t pour a little more TLC into this. Appreciate the support!
