@@hunga.b ??? I don’t think u understand what would happen if they just walked all the best players. They would lose the game but get a no-hitter. I’m sure every team doesn’t want to throw games intentionally like that. Imagine if someone intentionally walked the first 7 batters in the dodgers lineup. The dodgers would score basically 11 runs every inning. It should really be a no-hitter no-runs scored.

It's not that clear cut. 9 of his starts, the Cubs have scored 7+ runs; those days almost any pitcher would get the win. Overall the Cubs have scored 5.12 runs per game average when he starts and 4.46 when he doesn't; that's going to help his win-loss record despite being something he clearly has zero control over.

When a team is down seven nothing after three innings, it's a road game and they have tomorrow off... a no-hitter loses it's shine. Sometimes a team just gives up... and the record books won't tell you, which 'no-no' was truly earned and which wasn't.

Jim Maloney of the Reds only needed 226 pitches to throw a 10 inning no hitter vs the Cubbies at Wrigley Field in 1965 . Maloney threw 3 no hitters and should be in the hof . Today , the pitchers are treated like babies . There are hardly any complete games anymore ! Maloney , Koufax , Gibson , Marichal , Drysdale , Spahn , Bunning , Jenkins , Law , Friend and Seaver would throw several complete games every year .

Things we will never see anymore in baseball or astronomical odds. (1) nobody will ever win 25 or more games in a season (2) baseball will be lucky to see one 20 game winner per season perhaps every other season. (3) 200 innings pitched will be a rarity (4) complete games extremely rare let alone shutouts by one pitcher. No hitters will always be combined as well. (5) outside of Verlander, Kershaw & Scherzer who are all extreme long shots, YOU WILL NEVER SEE A 300 GAME WINNER EVER AGAIN! (6) I highly doubt we will see maybe a handful of 200 game Winners in the next 100 years. (7) probably most you don’t really care? To me it’s a shame. It’s semantics but explain why if young arms are being protected why are their so many surgeries & injuries. Taught to throw harder & not taught finesse. All the goodness is stripped away. To think most critics believe Greg Maddux wouldn’t be a success in today’s game? Probably the biggest study of the game. So sad, so brutally sad.
