It blows my mind that NBA stars make so goddamn much money. Just to make clear how much 35 million is: normal conservative investment will realistically net you 8% percent annually. Which correction for inflation and security the standard rule is that you can take away 3% annually and sustain your wealth. For 35 million, 3% is over 1 million dollars. Meaning, that after one year of playing for this salary, you can sustain a cost of living of 1 million (2020 (meaning the amount will actually increase every year, but it should stay the same with inflation)) dollars per year.
