I mainly stuck with Goombella for the majority of my TTYD Remake playthrough, mainly so I can use her Tattle to fill up the enemy book. The only time I used the others is when I absolutely needed to, but after that I would switch right back to Goombella. Even for the cutscenes I kept Goombella with me.

I think if Peach, Wario, or Waluigi were playable in NSMB Wii and U, people would expect them to have a different play style. Nintendo wanted to keep the four characters equal for whatever reason, so they just went with two Toads. They also wanted to keep the stories as generic as possible of course, so Peach was kidnapped and therefore not playable. The "outrage" from blue Toad being missing from U Deluxe wasn't so much that everyone loved the texture swap. It was because people didn't want to have someone forced to play the easy mode character when you have four players.

- I appreciate the honesty of Origami King that it makes all the Non-Olivia companions be just there for their chapter, it would be nice if they were playable, but then again maybe it is for the better considering the battle system - well... no, is not that people likes the Yellow Toad, the issue is that people don't like being forced to pick either Peachette or Nabbit if you are the 4th player - honestly Wario & Waluigi would be far more out of place in NSMB than Toads - Olivia is so precious, i love Characters that just love being there - i mean Geno is not even the actual character is the Star Spirit - no Cappy doesn't wear a hat, Cappy IS a Hat

The rabbids have turned around into being actually really neat characters that I think have a better chance at being in Smash than Rayman (As much as I love rayman) and could just end up being a sorta Bowser Jr situation with all the rabbids being similar, but with the same move set referencing the Mario + Rabbid games with the fist weapons, sword, guns, etc. They went from being the most hated "Mascot characters" in gaming history to being pretty cool and actually funny I mean look at how cool Rabbid Mario is with his Fist weapons.
