Climbing is a relatively young sport and different people are calling the same techniques by different names. Hopefully this video will be a good step towards creating a standardised library or common language. Did I miss any techniques? Or do know of a video that does a good job of explaining a technique in depth? Then comment below and let me know!

Amazing reference list!!! I love it. Only things I can think to add, are the knee scum and the Egyptian. And on big pinches, you can use the vice grip, where your fingers are in a half crimp as opposed to open hand. I'm also realizing there are a few techniques that could use names...like when you sag your hips out and then pull in just before a deadpoint ("hip thrust"?). Or when you stick your butt out to help your smears stick ("moon stepping"? haha), or the overhang technique of keeping tension from opposite arm to foot ("zig zagging"?). Excellent video, again! Glad to be a subscriber!

Or my personal favorite: the navy seal! That way I can feel cool while doing it ;)

Awesome video and super helpful! Definitely learned a couple new ones in here - especially with the dynamic movements. Only ones I'd add are "twisting in" at the hips and toeing down (hard). (I'm an overhang-type climber, hehe.)

nice video. haven't used the arm flag yet. Seemed pretty cool

Thanks, appreciate the kind comment! Chances are you have used the arm flag just to keep balance, but perhaps you can now use it more deliberately :)

Maybe add paddle dyno to the list. I think that is what its called when you use multiple holds back to back in one dynamic movment.

Paddle dyno is in the video at 10.40 :)

Nice compilation, there is the assisted arm pull, where you use your other arm to pull on the other locked off arm. Natalie Grossman uses it a lot

Oh and twist lock

@@librapower7810 Thanks! Can you explain the difference between the twist lock and the backstep?

Good video as always. I call the fast hand switch Ghost match instead of Houdini.

"Meat Hook" is also called "guppy", possibly missing "coordination" in the Dyno section? Overall nice vid though, had you seen Louis Parkinson's series on the same topic?
@AmirNickname2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, good additions! I've seen Louis Parkinson on climbing terminology, but haven't seen a full library of techniques just yet. I'll double check to see if I missed any of his videos just in case :)

Is there a good video for the scorpion? I always slip out of hold when dynoing because i cant scorpion proberly
@AmirNickname Жыл бұрын
Well, it’s not an easy technique! It requires a lot of flexibility and coordination. I think the video of mercedes pollmeier on Peter Pans can help you break it down and practice it in parts. This article also gives some ideas of the forces at play: amp.theguardian.com/sport/2021/aug/02/climbing-olympics-how-to-dyno-and-scorpion-like-shauna-coxsey

@@AmirNickname yeah i am working on my flexability and its been doing wonders for my climbing. Almost at frontsplit. I got middel/straddel splits. But no Box splits. Thx for the help!
