Thats correct, but adding fresh water does, so . . . through Evaporation the auto-fill is adding fresh water which lowers CYA, He just didn't say it like that - Cheers now!

Hey SPL. I need a new pool pole that won’t be too heavy, bend, or have replaceable parts. I’ve been looking at the skimlite 6016 (homeowner snaplite series) and the protuff 16’ pole. I can’t really find a place to read any reviews or purchase any of the skimlite poles. So which pole would u recommend, and where could i get one? Thanks.

Hi SPL, I bought a case of ITS shock as I should be doing this more than I was, 20000 in ground. Question can I "make" the regular 1 gallon pool chlorine from the shock grains? It would save $$$. How to do ? THANKS great channel. Froggy

You can add the shock to a small bucket and mix it until it is completely dissolved. It seems to hold up well in a small bucket so you can do this maybe a day before you need to add it. I wouldn't do it too soon though.

@@SPL Thanks, so roughly, if I did one bag of shock, dissolved in a bucket and used the following day, how much (in gallons) of the liquid pool chlorine would that equal? 1 gallon, two, more? It seems like it would be stronger than the usual one gallon of liquid chlorine. I know I should test it after doing it, but looking for a guesstimate. My liquid pool chlorine is about $4.50 each gallon, so if this equals, say, two gallons that a good saving.

If I put too many tablets in a floater for my pool and am now overchlorinated how can I stop putting chlorine in--remove water and close the vents to the floater, remove floater with vents open...? I'm a pool novice and got overzealous adding 3 tablets to the floater when my pool only needed 1.

If your referring to a color changing light bulb, they are not universally compatible. Check with your local pool store to see if you need an entirely new light fixture.

I’ve resisted Trichlor tablets because I’m concerned about accidentally staining my blue surf pebble sheen pool and I don’t want to tie a rope to a floater or plumb an in-line as I’d only use it to supplement when I need more CYA and when battling the hot TX heat and sun. Is there really a concern for staining pebble sheen with the use of floaters that freely float around the pool? Also, have you tried the Sunken Treasure or the Touch Down Sunken Treasure 2.0? As Always, thx for the videos!

I would recommend Cal-Hypo tablets if you are worried about staining the surface - which could happen. They are about the same price as Tri-chlor tablets now and can be placed in the skimmer basket. They will not stain the pool but do add about 6 ppm of calcium per lbs. Not a huge deal with evaporation and refilling. About 1-tablet per 5,000 to keep the pool at 3.0 ppm. So if you have a 20k gallon pool 4 per week. Love your videos by the way. My question is. If I have a salt water pool and naturally my pH rises , someone mentioned that adding a puck in a floater (being that it’s slightly acidic) will help keep things better balanced without having to add a pH decreased which would potentially lower my alkalinity. What are your thoughts with that? And if you would do it how would you go about doing it (I.e one puck a week etc)? Thanks

Would say in the long run a bad idea. Would rather you add boric Acid Powder to bring the borate level to 50 ppm. That will help keep the pH stable. And bring the Alkalinity down to 80.

Don’t you fill the auto inline feeder all the way up? Mine is just like the one you showed and it holds 9 tablets.

No, that is too many tablets. I think the size is meant to allow you to add 9 tablets depending on your pool size. Another words if you have a 60,000 gallon pool you may need 9 tablets a week. But for a 15,000 2-3 are more than enough.

Is it okay to fill the inline automatic chlorine feeder to the top? I’m concern that if i put too much tabs it may increase my cya level, or is it dependent on the dial flow meter which controls how much water goes in the feeder? Thanks!

There usually is no need to do that but if you do and say leave the dail set to one - it will slow the chlorine output. But typically 1-2 tablets a week is sufficient unless your pool is very large.
