I saw this episode today on AETN and had to watch it again. There was so much good information on bugs and lots of ideas on plants to include and container growth options! Wonderful show! And those Indian Runner ducks-what fun! Thank you!

It’s true that bees need a lot of water. I have three bird baths plus so many bowls around the property for my chickens to drink from and they visit all, particularly the bird baths. In the summer I have to fill them at least once every couple days. At any given moment you will find anywhere between 20-50 bees on the baths especially the hot days. They love shallow plates full with glass marbles and water. They love landing and walking on them. We have 4 hives and we love them! They are fascinating little creatures! Hopefully next year we will create a wild flower area fir them too.

honey bees are lovely little friends.. bumble bees make you say wow look at that.. carpenter bees get up in your face sometimes to give you a looking over.. and sweat bees are flies that you might as well just give a good swat

I really enjoyed the video. It was very entertaining and informative. I'm getting ready to start planting and I'm wondering if it's safe to plant herbs and vegetables in galvanized steel?
@PAllenSmith6 жыл бұрын
There are health hazards associated with zinc if consumed or breathed in, the danger of growing vegetables or herbs near it is low though. Make sure you have plenty of drainage, drill a few holes in the bottom and prop it up so that it rests level on a couple of bricks.

Thank you for responding. Good advice about sitting it on bricks to drain. Will do!

Loved the episode, do the ducks eat the plants in your vegetable garden along with the bugs?
