I'm a local who bought a redbud tree from you years ago when you were selling off your stock from your nursery. I just put in a few daffodil bulbs I bought at Campbell Road Nursery. I recommend your channel to my whole subdivision, which is filled with new gardeners 🌸🌿💞

Love daffodils. I moved into a house with a yard with 2 large ash trees with daffodils around them. The trees were taken down because of the ash boarders. I dug up the daffs to move them. Thought I got them all but did not. So now have rings of daffodils. I call them my fairy rings😂. Also love color blends best for your money ( not local but need a tool like you use)

I wonder if the ‘Baby Boomer’ cultivar is what I saw someone in my neighborhood planted last spring? They were the purest daffodil yellow and the bloom seemed to look perfect for the better part of a month! I almost thought they were artificial they looked so good! I have also planted the ‘Erlicheer’ cultivar in my yard. They’re very fragrant and I love the multiple small blooms on each stalk.

Thanks for demonstrating the pro-plugger. I've been looking for something to help with bulb planting, but I don't plant at a scale where I'd need the drill attachment. I'm done planting for the season, but I went ahead and ordered one so it'll be there next year when I need it 🙂

Have you tried Brent & Becky's Bulbs in Gloucester,Virginia? They are experts , having written books and making presentations on bulbs. Their mail order bulbs are very high quality and they are some of the nicest folks you'll ever meet. They would be great candidates for a future interview. I love your channel and follow you regularly.

Love the ProPlugger for bulb planting! I use my drill with side handle and 2" auger to break up my Virginia red clay soil a little and then use the ProPlugger to dig the holes. If I just use the auger by itself the dirt falls back into the hole and then I have to get a trowel to reopen the hole for the bulb. With the ProPlugger the hole stays until you are ready to cover it up. It keeps me from having to be on the ground as much. I planted over 300 bulbs with it this fall. Excellent tool!

Local! I would love a pro plugger to plant my daffodils and Darwin tulips this year! Also loved the tip you gave on using it to remove weeds. Although I have heard you refer to Color Blends bulbs in past videos, it’s always good to hear it again, and with only having 2 1/2 years of gardening experience, I often need to hear things more than once to find the information very relevant and for it to stick. Love seeing Steph on your videos, I value her input and sweet spirit.

Hi Jim, with a nice as your soil is now, you should try doing this with a hori hori knife. Just stick the knife in and rock it forward to make a space, pop the bulb in, then move the soil back into place. You won’t even have to keep standing up. In good soil, I have found this to be the fastest. Been using a hori hori for going on 30 years and it’s the tool I use the most.

I give up on tulips too, my winters (here in my part of Europe) become to mild for tulips to come next season and it's not in my budget to treat them as annuals, also shrews eat them. Switching to daffodils, they're less susceptible to getting their winter cold period.

Hey, Jim and Stephany, I have used the amazing chip drop in my beds for the past 17 months. It has broken down very lovely! However, there are some places where it is still very "thick" and not broken down as much. I want to keep the chips there and mulch over the top, but I also want to plant bulbs in those areas. How much of the chips should I remove before planting? Likewise, how much mulch should go over the bulbs if I have the chips there, too? I want the chips to continue breaking down because it really is helping break up the clay and adding nutrients, but I also want to make sure I don't suffocate the bulbs! I'm in the Raleigh area-- so 7b zone.

If you know where they are, then fall, or even now if your ground isn’t frozen. If not, move them as the foliage is about died back after blooming. Really any time for most bulbs, but these would probably be the best 2 choices.
