Ellora is located nearly thirty kilometers away from the city of Aurangabad in Maharashtra. The caves were excavated and carved out of the vertical, basalt face of the Charanandri hills. Near the cave numbered 32, we can still see the channels through which the volcanic lava once flowed. These basalt rocks are ideal material for the kind of architecture and craftsmanship that the Ellora represents, enabling the craftsmen to express their vision and art on rock as a permanent memorial.

It is a Wonder of the world! Modern man with all his knowings and technology still can't explain HOW it was achieved. Nor where the 100's of thousands of tons of off-cut rock disappeared to.

I agree why is this place not shown along with the Pyramids and other wonders? I did not learn about this beautiful place until I was an adult looking into ancient Architecture! India in itself is so full of mysteries imagine all this information was unlocked one day I would cry!

Exquisite temples. What a bountiful history of these three religions, Hindu, Buddhism and Jaya (excuse spelling). Truly magnificent works of art to depict spirituality, dieties. Recognition needed as A Wonder of the World. Audacious projects throughout 100s of years. Wow! Just in awe of the colossalness, ingenuity, manpower, time, art and engineering. Bigger the Petra too! Thank you. Enjoyable.

Where the 100's of thousands of tons of off-cut rock disappeared to is a stunning mystery of it's own- remember, there are 100 caves in total.

That's academia & "the science" these days, they don't know ,so they make something up and present it as a "fact". The reality and truth of this place may well be so astonishing in source that modern man, in his dream of knowings & technology , simply has no frame of reference to IT.

The transition graphics used between the images is a bit straining and disturbing …The documentary by this channel on Ajanta caves seems better as it avoids such transitions ..

These were built by Satavahanas, Vakatakas, Chalukyas, Rashtrakutas and Yadavas. These caves haves inscriptions from these kings. Indian kings often built temples dedicated to different sects. For example the Kichakeshwari Temple in Khiching has Buddhist idols too.

What is this crap of editing and having a frame go from left to right and only showing a completed image for a second. This is the 2nd video to do such a blasphemous job of revealing the images of Ellora Caves. Seems you are purposely frustrating the viewer. Who is creating these horrible documentaries?
