Your euphorbia Medusa's head is just stunning!! I recently bought a euphorbia Decaryi and I'm obsessed with it, it's become my new fave 💚

Good video. I just ebay purchased a white euphorbia Lactea with several side branches and pinkish red tips. I have a big meter tall green one in a tall pot it gets leaves as well as thorns. I think they are referred to as Euphorbia Trigona. You have some lovely plants.

That red one at 3:38 is not a E. Lactea but a E. Trigona rubra
@diealigra87035 жыл бұрын
Trigona have leaves, while Lactea didn't have. So this is correct, it's E. Lactea.

Thanks. I've been growing the Euphorbia lactea "Good Luck Plant" for decades. When I lived down south it used to flower pretty much every year. But now that I live north of Chicago, I might get a few leaves in a good year. I put them in direct sun during the summer months. Down south, I put them on an enclosed porch with bright indirect light (and a longer outdoor season too). I'm concerned I'm giving them too much direct sun. What do you think?
@LiquidambarGirlGardening5 жыл бұрын
Hi 👋 Eddie X! I your concern is too much sun ☀️, I’d say to just observe your Euphorbia. If it isn’t showing any signs of burning, you are golden 👍! Also, have you considered a small grow light to help get your plant through those long Chicago winters? Many companies are now producing light bulbs that are actual grow lights that will fit in light fixtures that you already own. Hope this helps!!!
@69eddieD5 жыл бұрын
@@LiquidambarGirlGardening Thanks. I've been watching them for decades. I'd just like to get them to flower. A light might help give them a head start in the spring but I'm not going to go that route. They make it through the winter just fine along with my cacti. They're all in a bright spot in one room (floor to ceiling, wall to wall window facing east) and they require virtually no attention for months. In fact, I might water them twice in 5 months, then water thoroughly before placing outside. When it comes to water, less is more with most potted plants. The number one killer of houseplants that I see - not just cacti and succulents - is overwatering.

Wow! Floor to ceiling windows 😱. Color me jealous! That sounds amazing. Like a plant lover’s dream come true! And you are 💯 percent correct. Improper watering is the number one killer of our beloved houseplants 😬

Thank you for this very informative video. I didn't know that so many different succulents were all Euphorbia. I have started adding various varieties of Euphorbia to my collection. I have two questions. Do you know if any of them produce and edible fruit? And the other question is regarding your little leaf propagations. I noticed that you are having a high rate of success with them. Almost every time I try to root succulent leafs, they either dry out or they turn mushy. And if I do have success with one or two out of twenty or thirty in a tray, some will rot and some will dry out in the same tray. How do you get them all to make babies?
@LiquidambarGirlGardening7 жыл бұрын
Hi Arthur's Garden Days :) Let me briefly answer your questions. First, I don't know of any edible fruits produced by Euphorbias. However, that does not mean that there isn't one out there. There are so many Euphorbias that it is entirely possible, I just don't know of any off hand. Second, you were asking about my leaf propagations and my success with them. I would like to encourage you in your propagation. What you were seeing were leaves that had already produced significant root growth and had been up potted from their original shallow propagation trays. I have had many leaves dry up without producing any roots. It's kind of a part of the process. One thing that helps to encourage rapid root development is watering more frequently than you would water your fully grown succulent plants. Hope this is helpful to you :) Mercy, peace and love be multiplied to you.
