Fabric color isn't same as acrylic color. Acrylic color is mainly for painting on canvas. It can be used on fabric but makes it stiff and eventually the painted parts start cracking. Also it doesn't last as long as fabric colors does. Fabric colors keeps the painted parts soft. If you are painting on a fabric that you won't wash a lot then use acrylic. But if you are going to wash the cloth a lot and wear it frequently then use fabric colours

Yes you are right...and you can add fabric medium to acrylic paint then it doesn't stiff, remains soft after drying and last longer!

Machine wash is very harsh on cloth as compared to hand wash. So for fabric painting cloths I wash them by hand.

While u touch the fabric do u feel it is stiff. Then wash it. If is feels soft then do need. U can also give to your dry cleaner shop for washing.
