I rescued a dying fuchsia a week ago, and despite using every tip in the book it is still not showing any signs of reviving. It was left in direct sunlight for weeks on end, very little water, and 34C temps. So the leaves are brittle but still green. I've put it on a saucer so it can take water whenever it wants as opposed to me guessing how much water it needs. And I've put it on a partially sunny window sill in the bathroom (as that room gets humid). Anything else I can do? I don't want to give up on it just yet.

When does one add peat/coco peat to pots and hanging baskets?
@TanyaVisserTheGardener2 жыл бұрын
Hi Lorraine, you will mix the hydrated peat with your potting soil and fertilizer when potting up your container or basket :)

@@TanyaVisserTheGardener Thank you very much Tanya. I have combined half potting soil with half peat. I was unsure as I've never used peat before. Can I use it in all my pots .... fuschias, Christmas cacti, pelargoniums etc etc and what else should I add? I am binge watching the episodes at the moment and as an 80 year old am learning more and more daily. Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge as I am very much a hit and miss gardener still.

@@lorrainekruuse724 As gardeners we never stop learning:). Peat helps retain moisture so it is best used for plants that originate from a relatively wet climate, unlike your succulents. I always say that we should remember where the plant originates from if we want it to be happy. I have done a few masterclasses here on youtube that tackle a wide range of topics, I would certainly suggest watching these to gain a well-rounded understanding of topics such as container gardening, vegetable gardening, etc. I will share these links with you below

Why fuchsias leaf burn
@TanyaVisserTheGardener4 жыл бұрын
Hi There, Fuchsias like semi-shade so it could be because the sun is too hot in the area that they are planted in.
