Always enjoy hearing your opinions about your experience on gear and accessories! I have been riding 4 years now and my gear consists of lots of base layers and a joe rocket mesh jacket, mesh pants, and gloves. I ride in Chicago so the weather is from 90f in the summer to 10f in winter, and I can say I've ridden in both of those conditions extensively. I got the mesh jacket and pants because in the summer I can still feel like I'm riding in shorts and tshirt without risking being a squid and when it gets cold just layer up! Excellent airflow for pants and jacket and the jacket came with a rain layer so that helps when temps drop! For the longest time I only rode in sneakers, like high top Nike jordans but I recently got myself 2 pairs of riding sneakers from speed and strength I think, they are budget shoes since it is my first few pair but well rated and stylish for my commute/work riding. I have a bell helmet that is due for a replacement soon as well :O I was looking at the Kreiger (sp?) dry packs for my touring adventures, much easier than getting hard bags on the seat if I'm only packing for a week long trip! Glad to hear you like the brand! I know that you ride with the gopro most often, and I was a daily gopro rider too until I found this dual camera 'dashcam' motorcycle DVR and I highly recommend it after a few months and quite a few crazy clips saved (not sponsored or anything, just a quality product). It's called the INNOVV K2 and runs about the same cost as a go pro but includes front and rear video, GPS speed overlaid on video, GPS position for GMaps and auto recording any time you start the bike up. I am pretty competent working on bikes and with electrical so it took me about 34-45 m to install and it's been working like a champ since. Keep up the good work and videos, and ride safe! Edit: On the note that you asked how we ride, if we ever go without gear, my answer is NO. I always gear up, which is also a reason I got the mesh. Heat can't be an excuse to ride in shorts and a tshirt and rip yourself up if you spill. I always gear up because my first year on a bike I grabbed too much front brake during a panic stop and the bike just fell over leaving me with a few nice patches of skin missing from my hands/arms. No damage to the bike aside from a few 'character' scratches, so what are you going to do :'D

You should try BKS leathers, British company, bespoke fitting, you choose the colour/style/stitching/lettering/sleeve length. Once it's broken in, literally will fit like a second skin. More expensive than off the shelf but will fit you properly everywhere and last for years. No more ball space lol

Nice video and very informative. I'm a ATGATT person and wear a textile jacket with CE rated armor in the elbows, shoulder and back. My jeans are kevlar lined with CE rated hip and knee armor. Boots are Spidi XP's which are great. Kevlar has a life of about 5 years. This was the max for ballistic resistance vests that I wore over a 30 year career in law enforcement and the environment was much harsher than you would ever expect to for jeans.but I think it is more of a CYA thing for the company. My helmet is a Scorpion EXO2000 which although is not a s high end as the Shoe it is Snell rated. Fits really snug and flows a air like crazy. BTW the weather here today was 70 F (21 C) and was awesome.Went out and hammered on my SV650 for 120 miles. Missed your vlogs over the winter and can't wait for more content from you. Another thing that is often overlooked is hip protection. Most car or bike derived broken backs are a result of some kind of hip trauma, rather than an injury to the actual back. Also a broken hip or pelvis is pretty serious anyway, so it’s worth getting some kind of hip protection, even the little foam pads you get in some jeans work.
@PistonHeadChaz5 жыл бұрын
Yep, my leathers do have the foam bits already in actually. Ridings just dangerous end of so we need to take as many ore cautions as possible.😊

MM helmet + MT09 with akra ti. We have the same sensibilities. Love my Shoei. I have a RF MM rep. My 2nd Shoei after a Arai. I liked the Arai but it took some breaking in. Pinched on the forehead. But otherwise the quality was similar though i prefer the Shoei visor mechanism. The Shoei's felt immediately perfect. I'm in the US and one can get a Shoei for reasonable prices (500$) if you avoid the high end track stuff with the flash livery. I do use a cheaper helmet for going to the gym (sweaty head) or to town when I want to leave it with the bike and for that I use HJC. Punches above it's weight. Riding jeans...I use them. Can't always show up looking to take on jerez. Going to the TT this year? Subded after the vid of you riding the little green twin shocked meanie.

Its a serious comment , i had sidi boots on when i had an accident and the paramedics struggled to pull the boots off my badly broken leg , ouch !! ( i wasnt able to instruct them )
@buddy86965 жыл бұрын
@@colin9967 see, with boots it has to be protected but easy to come off, if an accident does happen

Good video. I just wear my jeans and leather Jacket when going to wuk along with my boots. But any other time it's full leathers. I think it makes the rides better as I push the bike harder when wearing all the gear.

Great informative video. You do tend to pay for what you get with bike gear.

I have never worn leather, have had 2 accidents, the first was in full textile gear, draggin jeans, dri rider jacket, alpine stars c10 wind stopper gloves and icon reign gloves, i had a little bit of gravel rash on my elbows, knees and lower back, the elbows and knees were due to being 145kg so the armour never sat where it was meant to, leather could have saved the little bit of gravel rash though, how ever the major injuries were impact related, smashed wrist, 3 broken ribs and a dead kidney, leather would not have saved that, the second one i had normal work jeans and runners on, had gravel rash on my knee, fractured wrist (same wrist as the last accident) and sprained shoulder, once again apart from the knee leather would not have helped me much, so from my experience, for road riding and commuting leather is not as good at injury prevention as people think it is, for the average rider good quality and good fitting textile will do fine, and if you get the right gear its much warmer.
