In the county where I live in Missouri, USA, the council raised out real estate property taxes astronomically. Mine went up 45%, some paid more, all based on unrealized gains, since the price of homes have shot through the roof. So, we are being taxed on an amount that may or may not happen. The citizens of my county are suing the county, things have stalled out, meanwhile, a senior citizen like myself and others, are put in a bad spot, financially.

My house tax in Illinois is 2.5% of the value which is $450,000 and the local tax is $10,000. Most of the tax goes to the local school district. We actually pay tax for the year ahead. That doesn't include water, sewer, and local city services. Those services are user-based and cost $258 every two months or $1548 per year. Internet is $70/month from Metronet and TV has 250 channels from Direct TV which streams through Metronet. House insurance is $2,300 per year. We have 3 cars and insurance is $1,200 per year. License renewal is $171 per car per year. Illinois taxes are the third highest in the USA. It would be best if you remembered the USA is a republic and most of the laws are controlled by the states, not by Washington, DC.

Canadian dollar was lowest worth in 5 years yesterday, a euro, a pound is basically double our dollar. US dollar goes up and down , it’s worth more than our dollar right now. The song at the beginning of your videos is a Christmas song here, titled “ Joy to the world” which we could all use these chaotic days we are living in. Thank you for the instruction on your tax system, I’d not have to pay much if I lived there. I’m retired, don’t have my own car anymore, I rent my apartment too. Do you pay sales tax on things you buy? And do you pay taxes on your income? They tax us everywhere they can think of here, it’s no wonder people are having a hard time living daily. I’m glad grizzley is feeling better with his beak trimmed, maybe he won’t be as cranky😇. Take care, be safe and well. I wish things weren’t so closed down between our countries, I could send you some different yarns. 🙋🏼♀️

Canada here. I guess the real question is do you feel you are getting value for money with your taxes. My home has massively increased in value, and therefore taxes have increased also as they are based on market value of the home. Municipal taxes are supposed to take care of roads and infrastructure, clean water, schools, policing, recreational municipal facilties, subsidizing bus transportation. One complaint I have is that cities are now paying for social services for homeless people, and this really should be taken care of by the province and federal governments. On balance, I do feel I get value for money.

I believe the much bigger problem for many Russians this winter is , that they pay monthly for utilities which will not be delivered because their happened no repairs and maintenance work in many cases . And now the dollar is 100 Rubel . A lot of groceries will get more expensive . I wish you all that you will not much affected from these upcoming hardships.

I do not think utilities will be a problem in the Moscow area; groceries will go up, though. Utilities will be a problem in cities outside of Moscow and in the east of Russia because of infrastructure and maintenance.

Hi Valeria, Taxes are similar in the US, but it depends on where you live and if you live in the city. There are school taxes, utility taxes, and more. In all, we pay more taxes than you. I am tax exempt from my property tax because I homesteaded my property, and it is of low value.
