Sir, a very informative session! I have few queries which would helpful if I can get some information: 1. Scenario is in foreign from 21-March-2008 to 26-June-2018 with pure NRI status (total 115 days in India during this period). Returned India on 26-June-2018 and till date didn't go back. Question is: 1. When he will lose his RNOR status? 2. While his status is RNOR can he keep his NRE FDs and can he open new NRE FDs? 3. Let’s say he loses his RNOR status on 20-June-21 and his NRE fixed deposit maturing on 20-Dec-21, so tax will be based on slab from 20-June-21 onwards? 4. Person is a PR in the country and has retirement account overseas which can't be closed until he loses his PR status in 2022. So, if post losing the RNOR status when he receives his funds from retirement account will that be taxed? Note: all these earnings were during his NRI status. 5. Can the person open an FCNR FD account for 5 years while he is RNOR? If yes will the interest be taxed on maturity? Sir, this might look like a lot of questions but honestly speaking no video really talks about these kind of practical scenarios results into many open questions. Appreciate your time and inputs to these queries. Thanks.

Hello sir, I moved to Australia on 1 Nov'23 for a client visit from my company. So, I earned an Indian salary for 7 months in the previous financial year. After that I am receiving Australian salary and paying taxes here in Australia. But the form 16 I received from my employer shows my salary for the full year and also, tax has been deducted on my complete year salary. Whereas, I earned Indian salary only for 7 months. Do i need to pay tax on my full year Indian salary? Request you to kindly help.

Sir, I am a seaman Last financial year ( 2020-21), I was away from India for 123 Days only. Is my income earned in the ship taxable ? I work for a Hongkong based shipping company. My Indian income from FDs and rentals are less than 15 lakhs. I am not eligible for RNOR, since I have utilised the RNOR 2013,2012.

Since your income (excluding foreign income) is less than ₹15,00,000 for you 182 days will be taken insted of 120 days And if u satisfy the following both condition i.e. 1. Was resident for 2ys in previous 10 yrs Immeditly preceding the current year AND(+) 2. stayed in india for 730 days or more in Immeditly preceding 7 years Then u will be considered as "Resident and Ordinary resident". And therefore your income as salary will be taxable
