Warning for everyone wear gear I was wearing jeans yesterday on my moped going 30mph and slid on gravel ripped my jeans and my knee is messed up, also wear gloves (I normally do but it was hot out, I should have warn them) I ripped the skin of my hand. DONT THINK THAT WHILE RIDING A MOPED YOU DONT NEED GEAR, YOU DO Edit 26th July 2020: 100% please wear bike gear got knocked off last week by a car going 40mph if I wasn't wearing my one piece I would have came out with way worse injuries. Luckily only came out with a broken ankle and femur.

Scooters are great! I kept one or moped as a backup vehicle for 15 years and relied on a 70cc Chinese scooter for a whole year at one point. They're super easy to work on and parts are dirt cheap. Eventually upgraded to a rebel250 which is currently my only vehicle.. aside from my old 70cc scoot Scooters are more convenient when it comes to parking and storage. Motorcycles have the advantage (to some) of a manual transmission.. I strongly prefer them personally. I hate when people think scooters are safer because small. They lack the power (at least sub 100cc ones) to move around traffic like most vehicles and thus kind of require their own driving style. I feel much safer on the motorcycle

.Another point on that whole "Wear proper gear" aspect. They're is other people on the road, if an accident happens you will want all the protection you can get.

Everybody is aware of the benefit of protective cycling gear - decreased chance of serious injury. However there are dozens of ways riders rationalize not using them. And it man any people’s mind the disadvantages outweigh the benefits. It’s not logical but that’s often human psychology when it comes do preventative behaviors

NICE Video! Good intro to scooters. Anyone else notice the gas station background roller skating tiger? I fix and ride mopeds and scooters and am an ATV instructor and I still learned from this intro. Best tip of all. Wear the safety equipment and make sure BOTH your brakes work. If you ever travel 30 mph and had to stop with only one brake you will realize 180 lbs traveling 30 mph has a lot of force behind it. Also your left side mirror is perhaps your best safety equipment, because you don't have to turn your head to see what's behind you and newbie riders always swerve(to the left into traffic) when physically checking behind them.

+SuperJamster1 Hey SJ1, Thanks for the props on the video. We're glad that you, even as a seasoned pro, found something valuable to take away from it. Good eye on the break-dancing bear too. We like to throw something fun into each Garage video, just to keep things festive and lighthearted. For sure on wearing the proper gear. Unfortunately, so many riders of all sorts of machines have to learn the hard way. Motorcycle apparel is affordable, stylish, and easy to buy yet so many riders still head out onto the roads with nothing but a T-shirt and sneakers. We hate to see, but it is what it is. We can teach and preach all we want, but some folks just won't get it. Great tip on the left side mirror. Thanks again for watching our videos and the feedback. There are times when it moves great, and there are times when it barely moves over 5 miles an hour (especially uphill ) I am not a large guy as I am only weight about 135. It is more prevelant when I have to push it backwards into my garage. Does this description stand out to you in any way as to what I need to be looking at or having the shop look at. Strokes represent how many things your engine does when it combusts. 2 is simple, crude. 4 is efficient, cleaner. Basically I think 2 stroke crudely burns gass and 4 stroke efficiently burns gass. 4 total actions take place in the combustion process.

@hellzshotgun5 жыл бұрын
Go with what your dealer and owners manual says. Every engine is different and there is not 1 size fits all maintenance scheduled for oil changes. Especially since different oils are different from eachother. And although I just said go with what the owners manual/dealer says, when it comes to oil changes I would actually do them sooner then what they say. Because many dealerships sell warranties to give the first few years of oil changes "free" they want people to get them less often to save the dealer money. There are several things that you can do half assed with car maintenance that wont cause serious problems.. Oil changes is not one of those things. Always keep clean oil in your vehicles folks. Well worth the money.

Scooter is a great car replacement in crowded city centres or towns. Rush hours become a lazy sunday afternoon's, every 1 meter gap became a parking space, Toyota Prius became a gas guzzler, you will be surprised how practical this toilet on wheels is. Cons: In Poland you will be automatically called depending of age as a spoiled child of a wealthy parents (moped driving license cost quite a lot and nothing helps in a car exam few years later), metrosexual hipster if you drive a classical one, or someone that lost a driving license if you drive everything else (for driving a moped you must be just an adult) or a very grumpy old prick from a small town. Driving in a rain in 5-10C (a typical Polish weather) or in a storm isn't comfortable or safe expirience. In motorcycle safety gear you look like an idiot, you look cool only in a light summer outfit with not fasten helmet - its just a scooter, falling off is completely safe, just you will loose some bones fragments* ;) *125 ccm are very popular because you can drive them on a regular car driving license, also tunning of 50 ccm is illegal, but extremely easy, cheep and effective ("unlocking the monster" costs nothing and gives you 5HP, 80 ccm 9HP kit costs abaut 70$), so a moped rushing 70-80kph is a common view.

Apparently there's such thing as a moped license
@ahdkfknsbcienfnsk5 жыл бұрын
Solmon Steiner Technically there is. But you don’t need one for a 50cc scooter. You just need a CBT and you’re good to go.

The smallest scooter can also evade the cops, too. With 8x the amount of cylinders lol Thanks for covering the basics.

When it comes to off-brand scooter manufactures, It's best to try and find reviews to make sure that they are worth investing in. Many are clones of a very popular model from a reputable manufacture, but the quality isn't there. Sometimes it's just better to save and purchase a brand/model that you know is reliable.

Hi Surya, This should not pose any issues for you. as long as it's recommended for motorcycle use, you should be fine.

@@ruthsenouci5048 there is a learning curve but as long as you take the turns slow at first, you should be fine

If your scooter is air cooled use conventional motor oil,and add some stp oil treatment ,i add up to 100 ml per oil change and i live in florida,sinthetic oils will not help but hurt in air cooled motors,especially in hot climate,unless you live in a cold region.The reason being is sinthetic oil do not have heat absorbing properties.conventional oil absorbs the heat,so the metal stays cooler.By adding some stp oil treatment the metal parts will be properly protected.i deliver for uber eats on a chinese scooter.i put more than 100 miles on it everyday,i usually ride it from 9 am to 4 pm literally non stop in heavy city traffic and it is very smooth and it hardly heats up.i bought it brand new for deliveries and now has 20000 miles and it runs like new or better,very reliable..i also use a pcv valve on the valve cover and a crankcase decompressor instead of the oil dipstick..i do my own mechanics and trust me this workss.i do not see the point in buying expensive scooters..chinese scooters are the best for the buck,for as long as you or your mechanic knows them from the inside out...the bulbs are crappy..i put hid lights in the front..they draw only 14 watts vs 35 watts and they last over 50000 hours vs 5000 hours...i use dr pulley rollers.make sure you place them in the right position..Chinese scooters forever...i use ngk plugs only,and they last me up to 7 years...i put lucas in 97 octane gas and boom.my scooters fly..i have given you the solution to many issues...i use a gel battery and a heavy duty starter...and i never have to clean my carburator...the paper filter in the box i take it out n spray totally awesome from the dollar tree,the yellow one..i wash it and reuse it and it last for years...transmision oil...i put 20 w 50 conventional motor oil and add stp oil treatment to make it thicker...thats it.i have had 28 scooters...and most of these videos are designed o make you buy and depend on them...buy your tools and do it yourself and free yourself from these so called mechanics..tune ups are unneccessary.you can replace or clean the parts as needed...i reuse my spark plugs..i keep them submerged in degreaser and reuse them..never a failure...everything i do works..workss...works...i drive my entire county at least 5 times a week...enough...stop wasting money..i buy any 10 w 40 conventional oil api service SN,and add the treatment..i have changed my oil after 1200 and the oil is still clean...i love breaking myths..i took me time and money but i got it and now im sharing it with you for free...try it and you will never go back to that blah blah blah

Good info in this video.....but why all the little clips of people/kids crashing scooters? Are you trying to talk us out of buying one ? Scooters are WAY safer than regular motorcycles for most casual riders (slower, low center of gravity, no gears to fiddle with) and I wish you had mentioned that instead of showing crashes and trying to be funny.

Alan Loo Hi Alan, I was just wondering which parts you considered to be over-servicing? I've just bought a used scooter and am thinking of getting it sorted out but as a university student, I don't have a lot of money to spend to do it.

Its better than something blowing up due to some forgotten and needed maintenance. Had my maintenance guy change the oil for me and he saved me a future loss and maybe an accident by mentioning I needed a valve adjustment, which I quickly said yes to doing. Im a computer nerd and not a mechanic, so I suppose it's better to learn early and make the right decisions now rather than later. My point is, it's worth the $ to keep me in one piece.
