Lamy is finally doing something else with the grip section. Glad they are using other colors! I think the grip on the new aquatic will look great on the original Al Star Ocean Blue.

I think that the ocean blue with the grip of the aquatic would look great! Also the ruby red, the raspberry and certainly the glossy red would look great too with the grip of fiery! If someone has any of those, maybe it's a good idea to get this year releases to mix and match them. Also translucent Vistas, in the grip colors, would look great too!

I'll always have a soft spot for Lamys, having had one or another (or more LOL) since I was 7, 8 years old. These two are really tempting as I like that they deviated from the grey-ish grip and black finial.

I like the clear grip is colored to match the pen body. I would probably lean towrad the blue one, but the red one might be night around Christmas or Valentine's day. I would be very excited for Lamy to do the same idea with a purple or pink one.

I'm watching this video because I just bought this pen in the Fiery color at a store. Funnily enough, I had chosen the blue one, but when the salesperson looked for one, he couldn't find it. So, I asked if he had any in the red and he did. I was actually first attracted to the red, so I was very happy. In the light on my desk at home, the red is more of a coral on the pink side (as opposed to a coral that is orangish). Anyway, I absolutely love everything about this pen. Most importantly, I like the way it writes. Your price is really good. I paid full price at the store.

The aquatic aluminum color is right up my alley, but the bright blue section and trim really spoil it. Would have been loads better with either trim that matches the body, or with the traditional smoke colored section and chrome clip.

I love that these came out right around my birthday and I just ordered the fiery from you guys. 🎁 I am really hoping that it's a great pen but according to your reviews, it will be. I wish they’d gone with the usual silver-toned trim for these, but I really like the colored transparent sections! I think they should have used the transparent for the finial too, it would have been a little bolder but more consistent.

They look great! I wonder why you didn’t compare the aquatic with the azure Al-star. I did as I only have the azure and petrol. Aquatic falls nicely in the middle of those. A local shop accidentally put the fiery and aquatic up for sale by the end of March and I was able to purchase them already and they do look great. The shop did take the page for these pens offline a few days later though… 😅

Well dang, I just bought the Violet Blackberry Safari, so I won't be buying either of these for now. Had I known these were coming, I might have waited. Haha oh well. But anyway, both with the Safari and Al-star 2024 editions, it's fun to see Lamy doing new stuff. Hopefully they will get better and better at it as time goes on.

I don't like the color combinations, in my opinion the colors they choosed here do not match, but I agree as a big fan of transparent pens I also would really love a Safari in the transparent material. Like a totally new line, I would call it "Lamy Vista Color".

I think they got these right The aquatic is pretty close to what I wished the pink cliff Safari had been. A pop of color without going too far. Guess I'll just have to get an AL-star instead 😁 I like that they used the black clip and nib. Steps it up a notch.

I have three of the original Lamy fountain pens (2x fine nib + 1 Med nib clear body)...and love em all.. (not as much as my super affordable Pilot Kakuno's $20cad , each ~ LOL ~ I can buy 2 Kakuno's for the price of One Aluminum Lamy $50 canadian and higher.) I bought this pen from Amazon , a few days ago, called... *Hongdian M2 Black Forest Mini Fountain Pen* , Fine Soft Nib & Sleek Shape Aluminium Short Pocket Travel Pen* (Army Green) I wanted to see, how these aluminum body pens , compare to the collection of Acrylic and wooden pens , that I have.. 1st point, is they have more weight. It's negligible in the long run. 2nd point, is they can be more slippery in hand & fingers. 3rd point, is they are more stable in body than the light plastic bodies of Pilot ,Sailor, Twisbi Go & Eco , Noodlers konrad, Platinum , Parker, Jinhao, Manuscript, Speedball, Asvine, Kaweco. 4th point , the threads won't crack , like they do with the UK Manuscript, USA speedball, etc. 5th point, these pens , will get cold if left in backpack, or jacket pocket when outside in Northern Canadian Temps. LOL 6th point, I wish they would , change their Extra large "WIRE CLIP" or design a clip that is removable. 7th point, I wish they would, redesign their itsy bitsy useless, ink window...I love to see my ink (reason why I only purchase clear body pens, mostly) 8th point, I don't know if LAMY has an eyedropper fountain pen , on the market...that would be really good, upgrade if they did. 9th point, ************************************** Thanks Brian for your re-intro to the Lamy pen. Love the dark translucent colors on the grip sections, but the outer body coloration doesn't really do anything for me. If I were to get one or both of these, it would only be to Frankenpen the sections into a different outer shell.

I give Lamy credit for breaking out of their mold, but their color pairings all seem off to me (and that includes the recently introduced Safaris).It can be really tricky to coordinate different versions of the same general color and I don't think either of these work. Darker and lighter versions of the same hue might work better. In the absence of a good option, I prefer the translucent smoke, which would look especially good with the blue pen.

Hi Brian! I REALLY like the blue one! The red is just OK. I like the tri-tone of blues on the Aquatic! An interesting ink for the Firey would be the Ferris Wheel Press The Sherry Sonata. Unfortunately, that ink is now out of production (I think.).

I have long considered the Lamy Safari/AL-Star pretty boring,not something I wanted to own. But,the aquatic AL-Star has changed my mind. The smoke grey section of previous Safari and AL-Star does nothing for me;the dark blue section of the aquatic got me on the Goulet website ordering it and a bottle of "cliff" ink. I don't really care that the cap-finial doesn't match the other blues of the pen. I want one. I haven't bought a Lamy pen since the Lamy 2000. This will be my very first Lamy other than the L2K. "Summertime Blues". Way to go,LAMY!

There is a rumored blue LX with blue-colored metal accents coming out this year that I think I’ll wait to see before pulling the trigger on any of these new LEs. I think the blue clash on the Aquatic is unfortunate. Love the Aquatic otherwise.

I personally don't like the Lamy al-star, because it is not a well balanced pen. It feels very back heavy when posted and still awkward when not posted and the honestly the body doesn't feel as premium as advertised.... The Lamy Safari is the best alternative which is even cheaper still this pen was my first ever quality fountain pen though

I love me an AL-Star. I prefer those shiny metal bad boys over the Safari any day and although I have a couple of fountain AL-Stars, I particularly like the rollerballs. I'm not sure about that blue combo either and my Black Purple AL-Star is nicer in comparison than the new pinkish 2024 one. Those two from 2023 and that gorgeous Studio Aquamarine though... nice! I also prefer a silver clip and a smoke grip so, just as with their (quite hideous IMO) new berry Safari's, I will pass on these two.

These AL pens look good on photo and video but in real life these are a bit bulkier comparing to the Safari. I do not like the transparent grip neither. I was a fan of Safari but I can't have the desired colors and the available colors in the matt special editions are a bit strange nowadays.

I ordered my LAMY from Temu. My friend ordered the real deal. I do not like the grip section on either pen. Blindfolded we could not tell the difference. My copy cost 1.46 his 27.00. I was glad I bought the copy because I do not like the pen grip section. Some love it and that is great.
