Carrying a heavy load already with as many rules 😅 One principle I had been finding useful towards maintaining order in and around the home: Doing any task that will take 2 minutes or less, immediately - without delay. Contrary: Remain aware how a chaotic space in reality develops in 2 minutes or less.

I have found that if I NEVER buy new hangers, my closet stays uncluttered, and my clothing selections are easier to make. When I find that I haven't worn a certain item for a while, I'll throw it out or donate it and I get a new hanger to potentially buy a new shirt.

That's why I watch this channel. You're never too old or too young to learn new things from others. I have also recently joined the Life Reset Challenge because even though I have cut out Social media considerably, I still struggle with finding time to reach and complete my goals. Yeah... Social media sucks. If someone has an announcement to make, and I am part of their life, they will let me know directly. I don't need to keep up with the polished press releases that pretend to be real life. And I don't need the pressure of following my friends as if they are impersonal businesses. Broad social media is such a stupid toxic waste of time! I follow a few topics on KZbin. I follow a few message boards. But all of that is for news, education, and entertainment. Anything social is in a chat group, email, text, or phone. Life is better that way.

I’m doing a massive purge and downsizing. I’m going from a rented two bedroom townhome, to renting a single bedroom and house-sharing with a friend (2024 version of Golden Girls) 8 boxes of books went to thrift store (I kept 8 boxes I can’t live without 😆 hey it’s still progress), all the clothes I kept fit on a single clothing rack (no closet on my bedroom). My bed is a foldout Japanese futon mattress (no frame) on top of a tatami mat. I fold up my bed in the morning and my workout space is right there. Nice and simple, easy peasy. I’m moving on less than two weeks and my soon to be old house is chaos, but it won’t be for long.

Nightly Reset - this reminds of the quote by Admiral McRaven "Make your bed". It refers to a mental health tactic to stay above water by doing the simple things so that they dont compound into bigger issues. do you have a couple dishes, do them real quick so that it doesnt become a sink full. Do you have a messy bed , make it when you wake up so you at least have a comfy bed to come to at the end of the long day.

When comes to buying high quality I agree. Here is a twist on that. Seems the modern washers and dryers don’t last very long. We found a guy that rebuilds appliances so we bought an older washer and soon after an older dryer this guy rebuilt. He guarantees them and they are simple no fancy bells and whistles and they do the job quicker as well. They were commercial grade. Cheap and they do a great job! We also just bought a new stove but it is high end and worth the money for us.

This was in 2018 and our aquariums are still thriving in a tv free household:)

the "one thing" rule reminds me of something in the fitness world called "periodization." Periodization is, as the name suggests, having periods of time where you are more focused on doing different things. You don't get your optimal gains by having a constantly evenly distributed focus on every single one of your fitness goals, it's actually more helpful to focus on the growth of one aspect of your fitness, then on another, then on another. There is a certain really high stimulus that is required to make really good gains in one thing, but it doesn't take a whole lot of stimulus to just maintain it. If you try to maximally stimulate everything at the same time, you'll probably either burn out (mentally or physically), or you'll just not actually have the ability to provide enough stimulus. Instead, keep maintenance on everything except for a couple things that you really want to improve at the moment, and cycle which things you are actively improving. It's not a requirement for making progression, but it has been shown to be more optimal. And if you generalize the reasons that it works, it makes sense that it would work pretty well for other goals unrelated to fitness.

A lot of good ideas to simplify. You have a lot of books around. Are you going to reread them? It's not really a sunk cost loss if you give them away, as someone else is going to learn from the books if they're useful. Thank you for sharing your experiences to our benefit. God bless you and your family.

I applied the 20/20 rule when decluttering my kitchen. I got rid of six bins of stuff to the thrift store. I replaced one item.

It's amazing how history keeps repeating itself, and the urgency to prepare is definitely real! Investing can be the best decision of your financial life. I started my journey in 2021, and it’s been the best choice I've made for my finances.

What's the best way to begin, and how long until it starts yielding profits?
@Mikael008982 ай бұрын
No matter how long you wait, opportunities will arise in the market. Invest for the long term, and avoid being too greedy or too fearful. Making informed decisions is crucial; relying on luck isn’t enough, so partnering with an advisor is essential.

Love these so far!! I started using the diaper boxes as an opportunity to fill it with unneeded donate interns!! 🙌

Ive had a "box" since i moved out on my own at 18, but really vamped it up when we became a family 8 years ago. Diaper box in the basement where all things go that I want to take to donation. Then make regular drop offs at 2nd hand place.

For me, the 2 minute rule (which I call the 5 minute rule) also applies to if I don’t want to do something. I just commit to doing the task for 5 minutes and then if I’m truly miserable and it’s not done then I stop. The trick is that it often only takes 5 minutes or if it takes longer than that I don’t mind doing it once I’ve started.
