Thank you very much. That means a lot. We really enjoy the AK and find just about everything about it interesting. One of us also really likes the FN FAL too hehe.

The US import history is a good topic. I'm happy you've been posting ak related stuff more lately. Thanks for the info as always, glad you got one of the 1989 folders.

We have a good bit of AK videos left, as well as more Japanese and British to publish too. As to other modern guns, honestly? there's just not been a whole lot to get excited over this summer. Not much new coming out, and things like the Ithgow Atrax are still unknown.

My AES10B seems to be a combination of the various features you list. It is a Cugir factory built rifle and the trunnion has 08 (2008?) after the serial number. It has the smaller lower handguard like the paratrooper model and non adjustable bipod legs. The muzzle nut was welded on and it has a matching number ribbed top cover. It is a great shooter. I have another factory RPK a Valmet M78, which has a milled receiver. My understanding is that they were never a military issue gun and now are somewhat rare and expensive.
@ozarkbeararms88407 жыл бұрын
Yep, AES-10Bs came in several small, minor variations. Yours has a modern production trunnion, so not from a surplus and refurbished military rifle. The ribbed topcover is quite common. I'd say about 1 out of 4 of the AES10Bs we had come in had one (and serial matched too). All are good guns and built to the same standards. I honestly think these will be considered collectible in 10-20 years. Not many were imported; not compared with the WASR-10 at least. As to the Valmet M78, is yours in 7.62mm NATO? This is the most popular and so most common version. They did small numbers in 5.56mm and 7.62x39 too but most seemed to have the stamped receiver, not milled (I've seen at least 1 with a milled though). No, the FDF never adopted the M78 but did test it out. Interestingly, it was more based on the M71 than the original RK.62. Great gun either way. I owned one for about a year but sold it when we wanted to buy a new house.

My M74 is in 7.62x51, so it is one of the more common ones. Like all milled AK's that I have shot it is as smooth as glass. I have a M62/S also, one of the very early ones with the cheese grater handguard and bicycle grip. Like it's bigger brother, it too is silky smooth.

Misha, quick question. On the folding stock model, can you swap that out with the Club Stock ?
@johnski47096 жыл бұрын
Got my paratrooper today. 1989 and matching except for the dust cover which is close. It's a thicker, plain dust cover. Has adjustable bipod legs and the lower wood fore grip is smoother just like on yours. Came with a sugar scoop now has a manticore night brake I had laying around. Came with a black plastic diamond panel grips and a 75-round Romanian drum magazine which doesn't make sense since you can not close the folding stock with a drum on it. Had to get it as it came on GB and was for sale one town over from mine! I like it.

Posted on different video of yours asking questions about AES-10B I own, but you answered half questions I asked in this video! Nonetheless I own Romanian AES-10B with wider lower fore grip and clamp-on non-adjustable bipod. Would this particular AEB-10B RPK version be earlier import? Also did any of the earlier AES-10B imports have the RPD longer flash hiders?

What's the difference between an AES10B with a dot matrix marked trunnion with an '08 date, vs an AES10B with a military marked and 1970s dated trunnion? Which came into the country first?

As I said in another video PM 89 and 91 sound like bullshit names. I've seen actual military designations only for 64 (all 762 incl late), 92 (early pattern 545), 93 (regular 3rd burst 545). Cugir has a bunch of designations with no real military equivalent (like 90, 94, 97, 2000, 2003) but I haven't even seen them use 89 or 91. Infact the guns are mostly advertised like this: 5.45x39mm sub-machinegun with folding butt, or 7.62x39mm light machinegun. Also a version of that AIMR flash hider is acually in regular use on the 93.
@ozarkbeararms88407 жыл бұрын
No worries, i was very much engaged with our back-forth in the comments of that other video. Unfortunately while that video was published a couple weeks ago, this one was recorded back in July; so before you and I chatted. We're taking a little rest in September, so are publishing some older videos that didn't make it up earlier. We're be back with fresh, up-to-date content here in about 3 weeks. Also, yep, i think i said in the video that the AIMR flash hider was in use on the PM-93 in 5.45x39 but I didn't think it was ever on the PM-64? I just put it on as its neat and a good flash hider besides. It was made by JMAC and I can recommend it highly, cheers.

Mine has a 1965 dated front trunnion. Got it on armslist for $600. Shoots like a dream, might add muzzle nut and romy bakelite grip.
@ozarkbeararms88407 жыл бұрын
Neat, yours is about as early as they come..at least the original milsurp rifle it was constructed from was an early production PM-64. Does it have the fixed or adjustable bipod?
@ThePhantomStarfish7 жыл бұрын
Mine has the fixed bipod. It also is missing the cleaning kit compartment in the clubfoot stock. I want to get 40 rd mags for it but those are to hard to come by in colorado.
