@@liamjenkins82 I've been playing an sr755 since 2010... Still a super bad ass bass. I changed out the pickups to Bart MK5's and the Bart NTMB pre and went to 18v with a coil tap switch. Also added Loxx strap locks. In that configuration, it's the bass I play 60% of the time. The other bass that I've got is a Modulus Q5. I also used to own a Modulus Q6, for reference. This bass is light, fast, ergonomic (for me), and has survived spit, beer, heat, cold... pretty much anything a hard-giggled bass can deal with. If in doubt, go for it. If you want to hot rod it, upgrade the pickups and/or pre. Edit: the neck is nice and low, BTW.

I've used an SR506 for 7 years now. It's the easiest playing 6-string I've ever seen. I traded a Modulus Quantum 6 for it and never looked back. It's NOT a pretty instrument. It just sounds great and plays effortlessly. I've never needed a neck adjustment; it's incredibly stable, and I'm able to get the action ridiculously low. For the money, this bass is unbeatable. My one complaint is this: It's hard to keep the bridge saddles from moving around. I'm looking for a replacement bridge that locks. If I can't find one, I'll just replace it with a stock bridge. I'd like to see you guys do a comparison of inexpensive 6-string (or more) basses.

If I stay consistent (i.e., finish an online program I signed up for), I will treat myself to this bass! I'm in love.

I have an SR505, brilliant bass that can do so much with the amazing pickups and EQ. I know a guy who drummed in a band with a bass player that was sponsored by Lakland, but when he could only take one bass it would be SR505. could do so much and was such a studio tool.

I will have to say that the $100 USD that I paid for my Ibanez SR300 was without a doubt the best dough ever spent on a bass guitar, Blows away my old Charvel 3B.. I've got a 506 as well. My only complaint is the thin body starts to cut off the circulation to your leg when you play sitting down for extended periods of time. Other than that, it's flawless. I play mine with the low B dropped to an A: AEADGC, but I've gone as low as GDGCFA# for the sake of djent and it had no problems with floppy strings.

My dad has an older Ibanez and that's the only bass I ever played. Didn't get to learn much on it because it was pretty beat up and needed quite a bit of help to get it sounding good. I can't wait until I save up enough to get my own Ibanez.
@philmccracken61348 жыл бұрын
Actually it's better to learn on an old beat up instrument, then you buy something nice and you realise you can do a lot of things and playing just becomes a lot more fun. I still remember when i bought my Strat after learning on a crappy entry level guitar, the first time i played it was just like a dream. Then it did it again when i tried the Ernie ball strings.

There is nothing less inspiring than a difficult playing bass. I once tried to play on a jazz festival jamsession on a horrible Fender P bass with a really high action, with the result that I could not play good at all. A trauma it was. Luckily it was in another country. Now I always carry around a small allen key with me. It takes just seconds to lower the strings, and an old bowed neck suddenly becomes playable ✌️
