thanks for the shout out and I have one question can you put these with inverts
@BrockLeonard7 жыл бұрын
lpayne3638 it's risky. Mine never messed with my fire Shrimp but whenever I put a Coral banded in there, he attacked it all the time.

Wow so I have a chocolate chip sea star a skunk cleaner shrimp hermet crabs and a snail so is it a 50-50 chance
@BrockLeonard7 жыл бұрын
lpayne3638 keep him well fed and he should stay away from the bigger things like cleaner Shrimp, but you can bet he will pick at those snails and hermits whether he's hungry or not.
@MarioMan200467 жыл бұрын
Brock Leonard Will he pick at my star and are these related to valentinies
@BrockLeonard7 жыл бұрын
lpayne3638 I don't think he'd pick at a star fish. And they are exactly like a valentini.

I have one of these guys and he's an absolute sweetheart. Doesn't even go after any of my corals or invertebrates. I hand feed him daily with either clam/crab meat and once or twice a week give him a half shell clam. Definitely a character, he always swims up to the glass every morning when I get near the tank and opens up his tail and just observes me with curiosity. The best part is that none of the invertebrates are scared of him because he's such a model citizen. I can't speak for everyone, but I think I got pretty lucky with my Fiji Bluespot Puffer!

Sounds like the same experience I had. One of my favorite fish!❤️

Clownfish, pink spotted goby, there’s tons of wrasse to choose from, maybe a six line! Also fire fish and a small dwarf angel would be fun!

Love My Porcupine Puffer!! Best friendliest most peaceful fish I ever kept. She is going on 16 years old now. I just recently bought 2 baby Green Spotted Puffers I am aclimating over to brackish then full salt .They are SO Adorable! I call them Sushi and Sashimi.Thanks SO Much about mentioning NOT To Use a NET! Wish the fish store had told me that when I was starting out and bought my first porcupine puffer fish! I had to giver her a freshwater dip and the guy at the fish store was walking me through what to do But NEVER Mentioned not using a net and needless to say when we scooped her up in that large fish net she blew up and her spines got all entangled in that stupid net. I started freaking out and had to run get some scissors and cut her out of it. Poor thing, I was So Mad! And when I mentioned it to the guy at the fish store he says Oh yeah, your not suppossed to use a net (duh) your supposed to scoop them up in a bowl or something.And he knew I was a newby. That just torked me.

Hey brock! I picked up a bennett's puffer fish. Are they similar. I plan to ad him to a soft coral tank with hermit crabs, sea urchins, conch snails and a star fish. Will he destroy my tank?
@BrockLeonard2 күн бұрын
They will be just like these, care wise and personality. Feed him well, you might still see him nip at the inverts, but will be fun having them in there.

I thought I found a puffer that didnt need to keep beak short! No mention of it on the site I was thinking of buying from. How do oyu feed them clams on the half shell. Once they eat the clam can they still just have the shell for his teeth or do oyu have to keep supplying them. Arent clams on the half shell really large? Not even sure where to buy them plus I worry about it decomposing in my tank. Will it go after other snails ect.. Is he also very thick like a puffer? % inches inst that big but if hes thick then he would take up much more room! Also do they have the great personality like other puffers!
@BrockLeonard8 ай бұрын
Blue spots is one of my favorites. The clams on a half shell are about the size of a quarter. All your other fish will eat them too, and it’s usually up to you if you want to remove the shell or just leave it down there in the sanded.
@EverlostXP3 жыл бұрын
I usually try to catch them above the water with a net.

Since you can’t use a net how do you recommend getting them in the tank without pouring the store water in?
@BrockLeonard5 жыл бұрын
No Thanks once done acclimating we tend to scoop them in a bowl, which does cause some of the store water to get in, but most of it is just water from your tank.

@BrockLeonard6 жыл бұрын
dj85rocco They will go after your clean up crew if not fed well. Putting both of those together, I’ve honestly never seen before. Being both from the same family of puffers I’d assume they would fight unless in a large aquarium. :)

How harsh is a puffer on water quality ? I want one but scared it will shift my parameters with it’s bad table manners
@BrockLeonard3 жыл бұрын
Depends on the size of the tank. If you want to not worry about the bioload, I'd recommend about a 55 gallon tank. They are just a very messy eater and they continually spit food out and eat it again haha.
@johnnycarreiro56986 жыл бұрын
On live aquaria the website has a picture of the blue spotted puffer and the tail of it is open, so why on the internet the tails are always closed (like in the one in your video)
@BrockLeonard6 жыл бұрын
Johnny Carreiro so you really gotta watch on liveaquaria. They tend to catch the fish when they are the prettiest. But I had a blue spot in my tank for a long time and when he would get in strong current in the tank, he would flare that tail out to help him swim. And would also flare it out to make him look bigger.
@Brendan_O6 жыл бұрын
Its just a common thing for puffers to do, they dont use there tail fin for normal swimming, its really used more as a way to steer and turn tightly. I will say when puffers hunt they will use it for a sudden burst of speed to catch prey.

are they comp with peppermint and pistol shrimp?
@BrockLeonard6 жыл бұрын
BALOCKE There’s always a chance both of those puffers can go after your shrimp. Best way to make that not happen is to have them already in there and keep the puffer full.
@FrutiBooti6 жыл бұрын
Whats the diet on these fish? And how do you keep their teeth from over growing
@BrockLeonard6 жыл бұрын
BALOCKE Any kind of shrimp is great so they can chew on it. Clams on a half shell are also very good. Most of the times they will pick on rocks and that’ll keep their teeth down.

Good with seahorse?
@BrockLeonard3 жыл бұрын
Puffers can be pretty picky but not toward other fish. Seahorses like to hand onto algae and a puffer can easily pick at it causing a seahorse stress.
