After many years of doing saltwater tanks years with these Puffers, are the first to agree with me that they work in such a tank. Moved to Port Saint Lucie fl and am starting up another tank. Will be looking to buy a pair soon.

What is the salinity? And temperature? I am setting up a 55 gallon tank for my husband while he is recuperating. He was paralyzed at age 16 and a texting teenager just hit his truck and he ended up with a partial leg amputation and hand surgery so I want to give him something wonderful he can watch. You do beautiful tanks

Will the puffer fish eat cleaner shrimp?
@aquariumservicetech28912 жыл бұрын
We’ve yet to have that problem.

Did you ever have success with the figure 8's? There seems to be very little consensus on their ability to go full salt, whereas greenspots seem to have the go-ahead from all the puffer boards and breeders. Problem is, the greenspots get twice as big and can be more rambunctious lol.

We haven’t had a problem with the gsp being aggressive. The 8’s seem to be doing well also but I have less history with them.

@@aquariumservicetech2891 That's awesome, I may have to give one or the other a go sometime. I really loved keeping sailfins in saltwater, this would be another wonderful fish with a great personality to try out. The mollies were especially fun because they'll try to clean your arms and pick at your armhair after they get accustomed to marine algae.

Thaw and rinse all frozen foods before feeding any fish, especially tropicals of you could damage their stomaches and intestines. Rinse them in tank water in a cup and pour off the excess liquids a few times. This will thaw the foods and reduce the ammonia levels in the food.

I thought they're born in brackish then go full marine at adult age 🤔

GSP are mainly blackish water, they have shorter life in marine water..
@hien_dau3 жыл бұрын
They live in full saltwater in the wild for almost all of their life, so I think there's no reason that full marine setup can shorten their life.

You do know these puffers are brackish water to fresh water dwellers, such as mangrove swamps? They can survive full salt water but refer what that transitions between slightly salty and mostly fresh.
@aquariumservicetech28912 жыл бұрын
Actually not true. They go full salt when they become adults. Most mangrove puffers are extremely adaptable because of tides causing salinity dips and rises. We’ve seen people catch these in the wild and salinity was 35ppt. They should not be kept long term in fresh. Befishy has great puffer content and she catches them straight out of the wild.

I wouldn't let you anywhere near any of my aquariums! They are brackish not saltwater, they can tolerate it but they are brackish. They are not community fish. And you tipped all that dirty water into that customers tank, no concern for cross contamination. Shocking and not even and amateur would do such things!
@aquariumservicetech28912 жыл бұрын
There's some great videos out there of people trapping wild gsp out in the wild and measuring the salinity and the levels are 35ppt. The tides also bring huge changes in salinity with it which has allowed the a lot of pufferfish to become adaptable to swings. We have similar Pufferfish here and we are blessed to do study and learn from them. All the Pufferfish in our customers tanks are doing Great and are healthy and show no signs of aggression towards any tank mates. I'd be glad to do a special video proven this. As far as the dirty water. Well, we run a full Qt all on our fish and I suggest you watch my latest video. Happy new year!
