Jude the dogs are NOT hyper infact the opposite . The big there awesome but there mush. Italian Mastiffs we're bread to be estate dogs estate meaning large 65 acres they instinctly know what a perimeter is . I own a small modest home my yard is 100 by 60 for my dog her crate is 15' by 15' it's a bedroom in my home. They need lots of attention lots of cuddleing lots of brushing there awesome dogs mine goes out to dinner with me. They need constant attention. Italian brindle Mastiffs are great pets great with children great with familys good with neighbors live about 14 years so I have heard. The reason you walk them so far is because they were bread to be estate dogs. my puppy is my best friend she my wife and my daughter all cuddle with the puppy in the puppy's room because if there's not an emotional bond that's strong my opinion you should not have the breed. If you don't have experience with handling training and loving another child don't buy the breed mine eats 15 pounds of chicken 8 pounds of rice and Alpo a week she gets split pea soup in the winter. She gets vanilla ice cream in the summer. She is my other child beside my daughter she is my family was before I met my wife.

From most things that I have read, cropping the ears is recommended as floppy ears are not a natural trait in the wild and are a product of humans crossbreeding. It reduces ear infections, helps them hear, and is beneficial for the dog if the dog is in an altercation as it does not give the attacker something to grab onto.

Hi there! Do you have any other dogs in the household? A puppy should be with their mother until 8 weeks at LEAST, otherwise, behavioral issues may arise. The mother will help them socialize, develop habits and communicate with humans. A well-trained and responsible dog would aid this situation.

Only good reason is the ears getting infected. Apart from that area, I don’t see any good reason for cropping the tail, especially when you have ‘em as pets. It’s just the owner’s stupid selfish preference.... And to add to how bloody stupid it is, you apparently also hinder the dog’s ability to communicate. cheese puffs ear cropping allows moisture that generates from the ear canal of any dog to be released. While I admit pointy ears look cool and intimidating, they are not as vanity-driven as you believe. Floppy ears cover the ear canals of dogs, causing moisture to build up within them an cause ear infections or more major forms like chronic otitis. For a more commonsensical standpoint think about the dogs ancestors, wolves. They have the same upright ears, along with coyotes, foxes, cats, horses, and even us humans. Please research these things before tearing people down because of your emotions. Just want to add that I have dogs with floppy ears, and they’re lovely (luckily since they’re mutts and are usually inside, they haven’t been cursed with an ear infection)

They are amazing dogs and cropping the ears I highly suggest ( not the one that’s done to where no ears are there just a simple crop) bc if not they easily get bacterial or yeast infections similar to the basset hound within the ears and it’s hard to get rid of..... if it’s your first one get a female bc males can easily form aggressive traits like same sex dog aggression and dominance issues..... I know with a lot of breeds most people regard the cons of a breed as fictional bc they say it’s all the owners fault and I agree with that to a point bc I have a Cane corso and even though mine grew up with other dogs, and was socialized, he still developed same sex dog aggression...... every Cane corso owner I know states that that is a problem they have and actually the European show quality had to change some breeding techniques bc same sex dog aggression was so bad with this breed that showing was nearly impossible...... ( Europe mostly breeds the working line or original Cane corso) so this is an issue within the breed and any con you should truly consider..... however I will always have one!!! They are remarkable in so many aspects it’s hard to say it all inna comment. They are just special dogs and I’m happy I’m blessed with one and for many more in the future to come!!! I also had French mastiffs and I do have to say French mastiffs are amazing as well my goal is to have a Cane corso and a French mix one day..... but bc Cane corsos are easier to train and have a wide array of coat colorations I will stick to this breed from here on out if anyone has any ?’s feel free to ask me and I will State my opinion..... if your seeking a family pet know that this breed will be perfect!! Both of my mastiffs that I’ve had are and were the kind of dogs that choose to be with the kids rather than you the masters so what does that tell you? Never ever even with my male Cane corso having severe hip displasia growled at my toddler for jumping on him or being too rough..... my French mastiff before she died would go and check in the kids one last time before she went to sleep..... she also laid by my son as a newborn and rarely ever left his side..... my Cane corso is a doll baby when my kids come home from school it’s like watching a kid going to Disney land for the first time, so this breed will form a one of a kind bind with your children that I’ve never experienced with any other breed and to list a few breeds I’ve had growing up was the Doberman, yorkie, blue heeler, golden retriever, and german sheoherd and I’m telling you all mastiffs within the mastiff family are incredible with children..... however, this is a fighting breed, they were bred to fight, so like the pit bull ( and I’m referring to the Cane corso not the mastiff family as a whole) it can be trained to attack anyone even kids...... so I’m not saying your kids will automatically be safe with this breed, I’m saying with the right training, socialization, and guidance this breed can be a heaven sent

aubrey Aubrey I do have some questions. I have a 8 year old daughter and a 8 year old rat terrier whom has a Napoleon complex, if you will. They get a long quite well. I've owned an American pitbull and a Staffordshire. The smaller terrier is my 3rd dog I've had. Been studying this breed for a year now. And I'm just in love. So in love. I have huge property. We have space. A large home. I am a bit curious about the growth in relationship with the Corso to my rate terrier, as she is just under 7 pounds and the Corso grows to be Large. Have you experienced any dominance fighting between a smaller dog and a Cane. I mean dogs do have a dominant in the group. I worry about the extreme rough housing with my 7 pounder. if I should wait?

Samantha Lofgren I have a two Cane Corso’s and two tiny chihuahua mix dogs (less than eight pounds) they get along fine.. the little ones actually seem to be in charge for the most part. Especially if you get the Corso after you already have the little dogs, just make sure you never allow the Corso pup to play with the little dogs as it grows up. It can accidentally do serious damage. I never allowed my Corso pup to play with the little dogs. And I still don’t allow rough housing between them. Doing that keeps them from getting hurt. So they get along great. They just know they aren’t allowed to play. Which is just fine with them all. Though my Corso’s occasionally step on them and feels bad about it. 😊

The Uterine Dysplasia (aka prolapse) happens with overbreeding. It does not happen when you spay your dog. An dogs can get mange any time of their life, not just puppyhood.

Our girl did that when she was little. We yelled "hey!" Or "no!" Then taught her what we wanted her to do. like lick and the like and marked that behavior with "be nice" or just "nice". after that when her biting was minimal and never hard, we tugged or roughed housed with her. so in situations where nipping was acceptable, and marked that behavior with "get em". She hardly ever bites when not playing now and she's 6 months and when she does bite it's never hard. If it does get a bit hard a loud "hey!" And she stops and looks guilty lol

I agree with Alan Fitzsimmons, they are great dogs but people should be know their dog behavior and how to discipline, socialize, and train, dogs that can be headstrong, and dominant. @marvo blk and if you can do all that then thats fine.I have problems with people who get them and havent researched the breed or will take time to train them or just looking for a lap dog.I help run a mastiff rescue here in ireland and know from experience that owners get them for first time and cannot handle them.time has to be spent then training them by us before they are rehomed as they have behaviour issues from the owner not having a clue then you look at some vidoes here on FB of them getting trained and I despair.one girl who has a huge following wont let her corso piss on a walk without her say so.if he starts she makes him heel.has an e collar on him since he was 1 he is now 3.uses it on dog if he doesnt obey.great way to train them eh.take all the character and silly little quirks they have out off them .I appauld you for your time and dedication with your dog.but your one of the few who will do this.just look at amount of corsos in pounds and shelters up and down the usa atm.I stand over what I said in my original comment .some owners need training and others should never be let near or own a corso imho

Cane Corso is my first dog, and she is amazing. She has 3 months now, and never even shown a bit of aggresion towards any1, she wants to cuddle all day and just sleep and eat. She learns so fast that im fascinated. But i researched that breed for more than 6 months before buyin one, and so far i think im doing pretty good job. Just study a bit and if u are beginner, i highly suggest you buy a female, because every1 who owns this breed will say that males are harder to train and discipline, like any other dog.

Just keep working on it constantly... eventually it sinks in. Get them toys/bones and give it to them instead whenever they’re chewing on something not allowed. The mouthing took along time to stop but they get to between seven -to nine months (sometimes older) and it seems to suddenly click for them. Just don’t stop working on it- consistency is key. Be patient.

Best puppy I ever OWNED she had a bid first 9 months she was milled, then left for dead. With out a care ameciated 42 pounds with no water in site. 9 years later she has a room in my home. She has an awesome temperment overall. She stand 38" tall standing on all 4s she worked her life with me by my side. FYI anyone who wants or owns one be aware my dog is seen regularly by a vet 2 normal 4 times commonly though, I have my property sprayed for ticks mosquitos all naturally plus the pupps meds. My neighbors have a six year old girl. A cane corso broke into the backyard and tried to eat her. It ripped open her stomach and her intestines were hanging out. It ripped open both arms and her buttocks. Bone was exposed and if her dad hadn’t shown up it would’ve eaten her. They caught them and revealed it wasn’t up to date on shots. Crop the ears to avoid infections, you'll save money on vet & medication bills. Its common for my Corso's to scratch and lick one another ears (which can lead to hot spots), especially if they have been wet from playing in the water or the rain .

I have 5 Cane Corso. 3 imports, Docked/Cropped and 2 Natural. Docking/Cropping isn’t cruel. My Naturals both have broken their tail’s, and regularly get them trapped. Both have suffered ear conditions due to none cropping. The Corso’s I owed prior to these were docked tails, but ears. My bitch suffered on going ear problems... again. Due to none cropping.

..."CANE CORSO" is phonetically pronounced "KAH-NAY KOR-SO". "CANE (KAH-NAY)" is not pronounced as in candy cane, walking cane, king or anything other than KAH-NAY.

@@msgottaneedtoknow they don't need their nuts to communicate. They do, however, need their ears and tails. You're socially crippling them when you do that.
