One of the BEST sand sifters. These guys are great for scooping up sand in their mouth and sifting it through their gills. It is an art to see it! Thanks again for watching and check out my channel for more episodes!!

Should mention that you really want to find one that is eating pellets, mysis etc. They will eat the healthy microfauna in your live sand and slowly starve to death if they are not taking food you put into the tank. In the wild, just one of these gobies typically has a huge patch of sand as their territory that they constantly sift through for food. See these guys starve to death very frequently, if they haven't jumped out of the tank first.

Definitely the best sand sifting fish around, they do love to dig burrows under your rock so if it's just sitting on the sand instead of the glass your rock will eventually shift. We got a big goby a few years back for our 125 gallon tank and in 2 weeks our brown sand was white, a great addition to your cleanup crew when your tank is young and you are having new tank syndrome with algae issues. We've had a couple jumpers in our time so make sure you have a cover on your tank.

When a freshwater keeper is introduced to saltwater and they're looking for a sand sifter like corydoras, this is what they'd want

A good beginner fish but I didn’t enjoy the one I had. Sifted so deep in my sand that it slowly started to mess up my rock formation. Made the tank really dusty and after a few weeks he jumped. If you are gonna keep this fish make sure you have a lid. I have actually seen on in my LFS jumping back and fourth between two separate tanks.

True. Mine jumped three times. He was too nervous when seeing people in the room and he killed another goby.

Definitely a solid sandsifter. My old one died and I replaced it. Sand was looking absolutely awful. He had it gleaming white within about 24 hours of introduction. Got a few vids of it.

I have a diamond Goby in with a mandarin goby and a fire goby. Out of all my fish, they get along just fine. They can swim near each other and never bat an eye. So I assume two diamonds in one tank would probably be risky.

Every gobies are jumpers Either watchman-prawn gobies or sand sifting gobies So yes you need a tight led. I have a yellow watchman goby. Even this little goby can jump . My aquarium is 2 feet hight , still it sometimes go top of the tank. I have a tight cover. And another thing is common. Gobies are very shy towards human . They needs long time to accustomed with human interaction New gobies generally hide when the owner goes near the tank .

@BrockLeonard

It's definitely a risk. A well fed eel will not mess with your other fish, but as they get older and bigger, they could see that goby as a snack.

Paul Garwood well where I work, we always top off with freshwater. Because when the water evaporates, the salt stays in there.

Yes.. but the salt might stay in there, but all the nutrients have been depleted, is that correct?
