I had the PVC drop pipe break in the cold during an emergency pump replacement. I did a repair put a new fitting and glued it. Then put it down the well bore and did the purge test. No water came out. The pump is drawing 10.2 amps (1HP) but we see no percolation in the well, nor do we hear any sound from the pump. New Goulds 13GS series pump! We tested it above ground and saw it torque and heard the motor spin, so we assumed good pump and put it down the bore. I'm pondering poly drop pipe to make it less difficult in the cold weather emergency repairs. My only concern is splitting of the poly pipe after a few years due to the surges in pressure flexing the pipe. The underground pipe to the house is poly and I've had it split several times over the years requiring replacement. 200' depth.

Hey there, if you're concerned then I'd bump the the 250 PSI poly pipe. We use the 160 PSI regularly up to 300-400 feet installation, BUT the 250PSI will have a thicker wall and give you extra peace of mind. It will cost more, and usually comes in 1.25 inch as the smallest size. Not sure what PSI your underground piping is, sometimes people grab the 100PSI stuff from home depot and its just not the best choice for high pressure.

@@RPSSolarPumps The original pipe is Schedule 100, according to the well guy that came over today to finish what I could not. Turned out the PVC pipe joint cement didn't cure at 30F and the pipe slipped back out while we lowered it down. Well guy came and pulled the whole thing and replaced the broken pipe. Said the rest was fine, not worth spending $80 per section (20 sections) to upgrade to Sched 120. Hopefully no further issues.

Do you have or can you recommend one or more videos covering well pipe & pump removal. I've got a 500 ft well, 1.25" poly pipe (200 psi), 1.5 hp pump.

Anyone know where to get schedule 80 or 120 threaded pvc in California? Seems nobody carries it anymore.

I know you mentioned 300plus feet pipe recommendation, but would you go Schedule 80 PVC for a 600 foot well with a static at 272ft? Also, if there a brand pump you’d recommend? Lastly do you have a video showing a hand pump setup with your normal well setup with an electric pump. Thanks for your insights!

This is great. I am changing from PVC to Poly. I plan on using 1.25, 160 PSI poly. I am buying 300 feet. I plan on using the leftover poly to run water sub surface to a new home we are building on our property. Is this feasible?

How do I install a submersible pump in my old 60 foot by 3 feet in diameter bored and tiled well standing approximately 12 foot of water. What sized pump do I need to provide water to my one bathroom cabin.

VERY helpful video. Thank you! QUESTION: Black 200 psi poly drop pipe stretch happens in the first year or two? Then it doesn't stretch further after the 1-2% stretch you cited?
@RPSSolarPumps Жыл бұрын
Nope, the pipe won't stretch any further after that!

Quick question. Can you mix drop pipe types? For instance Sch 120 pvc for the lower 500' then the final 200' in steel? This would reduce cost and have enough strength to handle the weight of the water and pump.

Good question, I have the same question. We have steel casing and 4 feet was added to extend casing to get it above ground level a couple feet. Just told by well company that it is not appropriate. That steel needs to be extended with like casing. I wonder if this is true?

200 feet for 100 psi? The head will be 86 psi, leaving 14 psi for delivery. Am I missing something here?
