The score he composed for Avengers: Endgame was incredible. It stirred emotions in me I never knew I had. He made certain scenes in the movie so powerful.

I loved that he referenced themes and motifs from past films finally, since, marvel seems to have this idea that not having recurring themes is a good idea.
@grantmalone5 жыл бұрын
To be fair, maybe it IS a good idea. People often say how great it would be for every character to have a signature theme which then combine together in the Avengers films, but listen to what Alan says about the Avengers music needing to tie the disparate stories and characters together and how it wouldn't work to have separate themes play for each of them. If every character had a recognisable theme from their individual movies people would just be complaining that they didn't appear in the Avengers films, despite having little idea of what a hot mess that would probably create. Some things are easy to wish for but not practical. Personally I think it's worked well that the Avengers have a theme overall but the individual films have their own personality.
@TheChesterKiwi3 жыл бұрын
@@grantmalone That's what has been happening though more or less. The core Avengers never really had themes that developed between their outings, but for all the other heroes composers have been reprising their themes between films - the Guardians, Ant-Man, Black Panther, Spider-Man have all had their themes carry over between films. But when they appear in the Avengers films their themes get either a brief cameo (the Wakanda theme in Infinity War, Ant-Man in Endgame) or they get referenced in texture (Doctor Strange in Endgame/Ragnarok). So while in practicality it wouldn't be possible to have consistent themes for the characters that also get used liberally in team-up movies, it is possible - proven because it's already been done not just in Infinity War/Endgame but also very subtly in Age of Ultron - to have recurring themes between the standalone movies that may be referenced in team-ups but don't ever go beyond a slight hint to let the main theme (in this case the Avengers theme) shine.

It was cool to find out he went to Berklee. I was there 2001 to 2002. Studied piano composition. Hope to be a half of the Composer he is one day.

Hands down, this man is the real deal. The score for the credits of Infinity War still gives me chills, it's one of the most tragic and at the same time beautifully done scores ever made. It really captures that feeling of death beatifully tragic

Nice to hear that even legends struggle with self-doubt. Silvestri has created such iconic scores, and his note-perfect Avengers theme will live on for generations. It’s the very definition of a hero’s theme.

Great, intelligent and thoughtful questions (thank god these still exist, interviewer must be visiting from another planet) answered by a master composer, who also seems like a wonderful human being. Man, you really have the chops for this and deserve all the good things coming to your way. Alan's re-enactment of Predator theme was just so funny, couldn't imagine getting to experience that! :D
