Converts catapult to christianity. Hits building with a sword, roof starts to burn. Villager gather berries in the bushes, comes back with a bigass steak. Fat king outruns cavalry. Enemy army destroyed own army and runs havoc in base, wins the game because you have 5 crowns in the church. Catapult fires at enemy units, kills your own units. A single villager survives, rebuild entire civilization. Explore the entire map with a sheep. 10 elephants fit in transport ship, 11 archers don't. Villager hunts deer with a bow, attacks enemy unit with a knife. Ally is being attacked, better steal their resources. Use battering rams on farms. The Japanese, the Celts and the Aztecs are fighting each other, in Central Africa. Running around the town center while chased by a boar. Castle almost finished being built, villager killed by a wolf. Castle is on fire, send one villager to hammer it. Villager cuts down one tree, lets entire enemy army in. Look, the enemy is at the gates, ally unit opens the gate. *Tsk-tsk-tsk-tsk*, oh shit I forgot to line up more farms at the mill... Enemy monk tries to convert my unit? Better suicide. Teutonic knight? Medieval Chuck Norris. Asian castles made up by wood. Requires stone to be built. Oh look a shore to build my dock, aaaand its a little pond. Just some random AoE stuff :) Love all of it.

My favorite Theme is Age of Empires 3: The Warchiefs, I really love how the music starts with a very motivated theme and how later sounds a bit sad, it's like how the native americans started with their lifes and the sad part is when they're losing their terrains, houses and families.

It's not just calculating resources for getting units and buildings, it's tons of other stuff too. Spirit of the Law's videos go over a ton of math most of the time, such as figuring out that cliffs and elevations give attack buffs by 25% and such. I'm also inclined to say the game improves multitasking for obvious reasons, haha

Maxouprovence try Empire Earth, it's pretty amazing like AoE. It goes from prehistoric-Dark-renaissance-WW1/2-Atomic-Nano Of course, there are a ton of other "epochs" in between those! IT HAS PLANES!!!!

it wasn't pay 2 win, all you had to do was pay only 5$ to get the pro civ and also it didn't suck, it had good balances E.G Greeks counter egypt, egypt counters celts, celts counter persians, persians counter babylonians, babylonians counter norse, and so on... if you played it for a ''few hours''ofc it sucks,you started at level 1 and got bored quickly and had no friends to play with.

Well i found something, that has aged outstandingly good, wasn't ruined by it's developer and with that still enjoyable, while being a part of the earliest years of my childhood. *THIS* Age of Empires. Something from my childhood, that still isn't ruined! And AoE 2 hits the 20-year-anniversary this year. 20 Years and this game is still kicking, even on the Steam Charts on rank 46 of the most played games. Words can't describe this.

Technically the AoE2 theme was in and of itself a remix of the background music to one of the cutscenes (if you can call them that, in all their 1998 glory) in AoE1. Clearly Ensemble liked that one enough to make it the theme tune for the entire series.
