I think my favorite part about Ardyn is that before he makes his calculated debut as the group's primary enemy, he decides to annoy them as much as possible. He never hides or makes an honest effort to pretend he's an ally, because his main goal in the end is to take out his grudge on Noctis by pissing him off in any way he can, whether that be by killing his girlfriend or making him uncomfortable through his flamboyancy.

Ever. I actually find him one of my favorite villains in ANYTHING (not my favorite, but definitely up there). An immortal villain who has a THOROUGHLY JUSTIFIED reason for you not killing him (unlike the "heads I win tails you lose" Caius Ballard fights), and is so charming AND so disturbing. Not to mention how his voice subtly turns outright DAEMONIC as the game goes on, to the point that you realize just how INHUMAN he is.

His plan was literally flawless. If he did defeat Noct at the end, he showed the crystal it was wrong in rejecting him and the world is fucked. If Noct defeated him, the crystal would still end, he would be freed from his immortality and the royal blood would come to an end regardless. Unlike Kefka *Ardyn actually wins no matter what*

When you love the *villain* more than the main character cast, you know it's wonderfully written. What an amazing character! Truly the best part of the story.

"You think 10 years is a long time? It is nothing to me. I have lived in darkness for ages!" These lines are so powerful, and so important for Ardyn's character. It's a shame that the player is really only able to understand the gravity of them if they play the Ardyn DLC, though. In the main game, you really don't get a good look at Ardyn's true suffering or his motivations. Stuff like this almost makes me glad I didn't get invested in this franchise until recently. There's so much more to unpack now, for each of the characters, than there was four years ago when the game first came out.

There is a reason he has that over the top outfit. Sunlight hurts his skin because of his daemonic powers, so he was given the outfit to cover himself up as much as possible and protect himself.

I compliment and express thanks for sharing, rewatching the game again currently and seeing these scenes is interesting. I think the new additional scenes from Episode Ardyn and the Royal Edition displays more of Ardyn's once compassionate and kind mindset, to nefarious and sadistic comportment. 3:13 and 10:18 should have been the warning to the group to not trust the character, so I am curious why would Gladiolus and Ignis comply when there was suspicion surrounding Ardyn. (At 16:00 I also question how did the starscourge grant Ardyn the abilities to manipulate the mind as he did to Noctis, his friends and Ravus.)
