Great video👍 I live in the States (where carp fishing info/advice is at a minimum) and thanks to this video, and your ability to simplify the ZigRig process/uses, I think I FINALLY understand how to properly use an Adjustable ZigRig🥳 I'm off to the banks this weekend to put my new found knowledge to the test🤞 Thanks again for the invaluable help you bring to the average angler! - Joe

Very good and interesting information Mark, just bought the new zig float last week, I have the older version which is the large type with the long tube attached, haven't really mastered that one yet, having to many hook length tangles, great idea about using pva nuggets for the hook to alleviate tangles, top work mate!!!!👍

Your vids are my best resource to learn how to catch Carp. Not many people fish for Carp in my region which makes it more of a challenge. How do you suspend your bait 15ft off bottom ? I assume you're not using a 15ft leader. I may have to look around for a more detailed video if zig rigs.
@MarkPitchers4 жыл бұрын
Bruce Simmons To be honest mate I don’t think you’ll find a more detailed zig fishing video than this!! It’s all fully explained here mate. It’s a 3ft hooklink and the float can be moved up and down in the water column 👍👍

This is a local day ticket big carp water 10 mins from me. However this is the old match lake marks on. The big lake over road holds fish to mid 40's. Think they go to mid 20's in this lake but they could be bigger now. They are fairly deep so they lend themselves to zig fishing.

Hi mark great vid was just wondering why you don't allow zigs on your lake ?
@MarkPitchers4 жыл бұрын
smudge10 hi mate. Because my lake is very shallow, average depth 4ft, and in the past lots of fish were getting foul hooked on zigs. It’s something that can be an issue on shallow venues.

Mark, great video. I am a U.S.A. Carp Angler. I have been through several brands and iterations of zig rigs and floats. I find these Fox rigs the best and most simple to use. That said, do you use any sort of slop bait to bait fish in, or do you use only the hook bait? Thanks for a simplistic video, that explains zig fishing. Tight Lines.

@MarkPitchers4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely mate. It doesn’t matter what the water clarity is like, carp are totally adapted to feeding in their environment. If the fish are within the water column then they are capable of feeding efficiently in the water column 😊😊👍

Cheers for the reply mark. I'll give them a go then

Great video as always Mark, I've always thought it strange when anglers quote distance from the lake bed, rather than distance from the water surface when zig fishing. Let's face it, the carp determine the depth by distance from the surface rather than from the lake bed, eg, the fish are four feet below the surface could be any depth on this lake from 1 foot in 5 foot of water up to 26 feet at the deepest point (30 feet). What's your views on this?
@Thegasman-hc3zz4 жыл бұрын
But with a zig your measuring the distance from the lead surely.... your only able to judge the distance from the surface by having a previous value and then doing the subtraction.
@thecarpangler4 жыл бұрын
@@Thegasman-hc3zz but as I said depths can vary greatly in most lakes, but we always quote what distance the fish are at, from the surface, then reverse it. If I believe the fish are 3ft below the surface and I have a 3ft hooklink, I will let the float come to the surface then wind down 6ft, the depth in that case is immaterial.
@MarkPitchers4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I hear what you’re saying. You would have to know the depth first mate to know how far from the surface you are. For fixed zigs it was more about the length of the hooklink, so a 10ft zig was basically a 10ft long hooklink. I would personally say, as an example, a 10ft zig in 15ft of water, which leaves no confusion I guess 😊😊
@thecarpangler4 жыл бұрын
@@MarkPitchers No you don't Mark, cast you adjustable zig and let the float come to the surface, with a 3ft hooklink reel in 3ft and the floater/foam is on the surface, then adjust to whatever distance you want to try beneath the surface. Without trying to sound like an 'old git' it's not much different than using an anchored piece of floater cake that I used back in the 80's. Love your videos though Mark whether they are the challenge, your blogs about your lake etc. Keep em coming👍

I’ve been using an adjustable zig from another brand (rhymes with corda) and I find fishing at distance a problem. Hook link seems to get tangled, or the float doesn’t want to float to the surface. The fox ones any better? Or an obvious thing that can be corrected to make adjustables work?

I see PITCHERS recommends an outurned eye hook with the zig. Korda reccommends the inturned eye. But which hook is actually the most suitable? Come on PITCHERS what's the story mate?
@MarkPitchers4 жыл бұрын
James Paul Thats a very good point you’ve raised (no pun intended). For me an inturned eye narrows the gape too much. I would always use an out-turned eye, along with fine silicone over the eye to ensure the line exits the hook as straight possible. This results in a wide gape and therefore more chance of the hook catching a hold in the carp’s mouth 😊👍
@jimmypwa96834 жыл бұрын

... coming from a professional angler is easy for you to talk about the zig rig specially when you are catching fish just walking around the lake , is like in the biblical say ... let the fish came to me... This autumn I hope I have enough time to tested and I will tell you from a point of view of a regular carp angler not for the commercial and full of blessings catcher .😊

MrDINODINO74 gotcha... so you only listen to advice from people who don’t go fishing much and don’t catch a lot? That might be where you’re going wrong...😜😄😄

@@MarkPitchers , I can't take your experience for granted because you are one from the special one's, you are trying hard to show is not true probably afraid that the specialist will experiment on you , but you don't have to worry about catching fish is not taking as a miracle anymore , the last one they put in on cross, so you are safe. MrDINODINO74 mate, my reply was very much tongue in cheek.. I would really like to hear how you get on in the future with your zig fishing. Hopefully you picked up some little tips from this video, but the best advice I can offer is just to keep things as simple as possible and have confidence in your approach. Good luck 😊😊🎣🎣
@MrDINODINO744 жыл бұрын
@@MarkPitchers thank you very much, but has nothing to do with luck , either you are born with or you are fishing like an electrician or a genist from the infantry . In my case is like this ... first time when I am going to fish on the new year, back home was in April every year, it's how I will do that entire year , so if I am catching fish that day, I will have a good year if not I don't have to other I till next year , because that year is condemn any way. The beauty of this kind of fishing is that the carp is so curious that will taste anything is floating , and is a good excuse for my bad years... I wasn't on the right height to meat the fish. 😊
