Oscars are given by politic reasons, many great Actors never wins an Oscar ( Douglas, Widmark, Ford, Malden) but its more important what the audience say. Schwarzenegger, Reeves and Ford makes the big hits, and Marvel never takes an Oscar for the best Movie, but, hey, who cares. Arnold said he makes movies for the Audience, not for Cineasts. Two Suggestions that would have made the Video perfect: 1- Should’ve done it of the year of the movie and not the year of the ceremony. So 1928-2021, instead of 1929-2022. 2- Should’ve use a photo of the Actor during that specific film. And not a totally random photo of the actor usually when they are looking really old in recent times. Anyhow, thank you very much for the video.

Yes, the actor really has to do their best work. The average comedy or action movie is just not going to be "classy" or "artistic" or "intelligent" for this award. Many of these movies were not even money-making hits. There is a difference between what movies are popular and what movies are a showcase for people's best work.

As an a academy award nerd who loves the ceremony and dreams of being cemented in history by winning one, one day, I have a huge pet peeve about snubs. I don’t believe a “snub” exists. They can only award 1 actor each year and can only nominate 5. There are hundreds of great performances to choose from and hundreds more that won’t ever be considered. It goes without saying that it’s impossible to please everyone. For everyone that says “so and so should have won over so and so”, think about what you’re saying. I guarantee you that in an alternate universe if your choice had won, we’d be calling the other actor a snub. Think of it this way, it’s not always about “best actor”. (They should change the phrasing) That’s not a thing. It’s often about honoring someone’s career. In the case of Leo DiCaprio. I’d venture to say that’s actually not his best work. But the world was ready for him to win and willing it to happen. He won because he’s turned out like 6 Oscar nominations or something out of a lifetime of great performances. They were honoring his career. It’s a celebration. And I do blame the academy for not marketing it that way. Maybe it pulls an audience in more if we call it a “competition”. They could add 5 more nominees and there’d still be people saying “the Oscar’s are a joke”. And don’t even get me started about my thoughts on best picture.
