Back in the day I was upgrading from a tuned N14a 200SX (240SX in some markets) without traction control to something newer - I actually cross-shopped an E46 323Ci M Sport coupe in Imola Red against a new 350z (then brand new model) but went with the 323Ci as the interior and build quality was sooo much better. They did sound similar, though I felt the E46 323Ci M52 was borderline underpowered, especially with passengers. Sweet induction sound though and was a solid and well made ride. Had that for over 5 years and it was a great car in its day. Good times.

Wish they specified which generations of cars. For instance the 320i is listed as having 168hp with a 2.0l engine. That combination is unlikely since the 168hp came from the 2.2l M54B22 in the LCI model. The pre-LCI model had a 2.0l M52 but with lower HP of 148.

3.30i best for daily drive. i have one. it does well performances, also fuel consumption is better than a 3.20i. it is useful for daily drive and the maintenance cost more more less than a m3.

Yeah 320i seems so pointless to me. Fuel economy the same as a 330i, with no performance to go with it. I had a 330ci for a few years. Really enjoyed my time owning it.

Little engines in big cars always full gas to move...and full gas to move is drink the gas tank in few km. So never buy a big car with small engine. Expensive and boring.

I would prefer the 4-cylinders as daily drivers.. The 320i is too weak on torque and continuesly runs with a lot of rpm's on the engine = noise and waste of fuel. 330i is too expensive in alle perspectives.. 318i 1.9 is the best value for money.

They have different engines, both 323 and 328 have the m52 generation of engine while the 320(170hp), 325 and 330 have the m54 engine. M52 was mounted on the e36 but was ditched for the more fuel efficient M54.

+50C is the max temperature that it can show. This usually happens when temperature sensor is shorted to the car or burnt inside. Otherwise it would show -50 or -30. The sensor is faulty or missing in any case.

I chronoed all rhe cars in the video in the 100-160 km/h range (I have a lot of data of times of may cars in this speed range) and all are coherent, with the suspect the 323i may be modified (intake, manifold, remap...) as it is faster than 325i and sounds meaner. But the 328i is perfectly coherent and normal

U should know, that there are different „horsepowers“. British horsepower (bhp) and the metric horsepower (hp). 1hp=0,986 bhp. In Germany f.e. the metric horsepower is called PS (for „Pferdestärke“) and the british horsepower just is called hp instead of bhp. In this case: 1PS=0,986(b)hp... i hope u understand

El mio es un e46 coupe, 2.8, totalmente equipado, unos 1500kg y en carretera hace 7.5 yendo a unos 130 y en ralentí, entre 0.9 y 1.1 😉

@@agdwhite5421 Con el viento a favor y en llano, o cuesta abajo. Es verdad que consume poco para lo que anda, pero 7,5 a 130 lo vi en algún tramo en condiciones muy específicas. Aprox; Ciudad= 15 L 150 km/h= 10,5L 130km=8,5L 90km/h= 6L Compré un 328i en 1999. Totalmente equipado pero manual. Ruedas medida; 225/45/17 Si andas con unas 205/16 tal vez te haga esos consumos, pero me parece muy poco. Le hice 465 000km antes de venderlo.

@@salovila5328 El mio lleva también 225/45/17, lleva unas llantas de Z4 bastante ligeras, es posible que eso compense un poco, el coche lleva los mantenimientos totalmente al dia, esta como nuevo, quizás el tuyo no estuviese en las mismas condiciones, tengo un amigo que tuvo hace unos años un 328ci y flipaba con el mío por que el suyo no le bajaba de 9 a 120 en carretera, pero le tenía destrozado... El mio llaneando, como cualquier coche consume menos, incluso un diesel que haga 5L te hará 6 o más si le llevas cuesta arriba... Es de lógica, este los 7,5 son de media, en un viaje donde haya de todo, cuestas hacia arriba, hacia abajo, planicie, etc etc, alguna vez me ha tocado ir al aeropuerto de Madrid y desde donde vivo se me hace cuesta abajo casi todo el camino y he llegado a hacerle cerca de 6 de media en ese viaje (unos 30kms) pero yendo con tiempo y sin prisa alguna a una velocidad media de 100-110 máximo

No, it is not, I chronoed all cars in the 100-160 range (I have a lot of experience from many cars, mine and from a lot of petrolhead friends, in this speed range times) and all seem correct, except for the 323i, which I think can be a bit modified (I mean no turbo or supercharger, but exhaust, intake manifold, remap...)

The check engine light often doesnt mean anything. It is not like the engine is gonna self destruct once your check engine comes on. it is prob something minor and intentional even. I believe. Prolly it just has a cat delete and the ECU sees some numbers wrong and triggers the light it is probs nothing.

If your referring to the light in the middle of the dash it means the traction control is off only the 328i had the engine light but that's normally due to a faulty sensor or minor problem unlike audi vws and mercs of the time which would probably shoot a piston at those high revs

My check engine light was always on, it just means it needs to be reset because there was nothing wrong with the actual car.
