@@Gold1488 These are fun mods/ports but not the same as a full remake. I just ran through Brutal Heretic HD with all the extensions added chapters etc. It was amazing. Moving on to Hexen now since I legit haven't played it all the way through since it launched.

I think you mean Heretic II, and the reason for it is probably they thought Heretic/Hexen were too similar to Doom and Quake (fans back then called it a Doom clone). So they made Heretic II have a different approach, honestly I prefer the first person perspective.
