I am sorry Daniel I have to call you out on this massive mistake: You always seem to lie on your couch contemplating when to join tournaments and buying in really late. Why am I calling you out? I can guarantee you the Top 20 at the $10K WSOP all bought in at the start and not fiddled and diddled on stupid games at home whilst others were building a stack. How are you supposed to compete when you join so late and others have already solid healthy BB and can take you down with shit cards....which has been the theme all through this WSOP...sure you got lucky. You won one bracelet but your attitude for a lot of the others was " i don't need to play until I really have to" ....sorry mate you need to change your approach next year

The variance discussion is why one should NOT play 25x (or 5x) over your normal level. Look, poker, or really all gambling, is about the averages. You play $1,000 tournaments 1000 times, You don't play 500 $1000 tournaments and then 5 $50,000 tournaments, and 1 $250,000 tournament. At that point, you are 100% counting on getting lucky in those 6 high-roller tournaments. Now Daniel doesn't have to worry about that. He makes a ton from this channel, and maybe even is bankrolled for some or all of the big tournaments. But yeah, you're not really a professional when you're just counting on getting lucky in a couple of big ones. All the littles don't even matter any more (except to monetize your views). They're just for fun.

I did submit my idea to his manager for Mr. N to introduce my action card game to the world. After watching all the WSOP vlogs last year and thus far this year, I'm more convinced than ever that rec players would welcome this addition if only for home games. And if it caught on and the card rooms started spreading this option, the pros would rapidly find ways to seize advantages. Meanwhile, I've got bigger fish to fry, like trying to convince the U.S. government to scrap its planned crewed mission(s) to Mars. Far too risky and extravagant given the limited potential benefits.

The commentary on how much you've made this year is interesting. It feels like winning $1.1mm should be sufficient to guarantee a winning season, but I understand why. Makes me wonder how many of the truly active players are really profitable - I could imagine if a player is not in the POY race or go deep in a big one, that player is probably not profitable. Thoughts?
@ChicagoTRS5 ай бұрын
I think there is a lot better chance of being profitable if you are playing all smaller events...then one good score will more than cover buy-ins. Those huge buy-in events...if you do not cash negates your whole series.

Tournaments are hardly profitable in the long run for any player. Almost all of the top pros make their money through cash games, branding, sponsorships, investments, etc. Tourney’s are for legacy, help make your brand, acquire sponsors, be seen as a TOP pro. It’s like winning an Oscar for an actor. Helps make them more money in other roles and deals outside of just acting in one particular movie.
@wfframejr5 ай бұрын

@@wfframejr I know, but the money he receives to play those tournaments comes from other sources. It’s not cut and dry. He has what like 20 mil plus in tourney winnings right?
