The likely reason why there was a heightened mound built would’ve to divert jet blast from the road behind. However, this aircraft looked far too fast to be able to land and stop before the end of the runway. My guess here is that the touchdown was way more down the runway than it should have been and as such, the landing attempt should have been aborted (if possible) Foam on the runway would not have stopped the fireball as the aircraft breached the runway and impacted away from the runway limits. There was no fire as the aircraft skidded belly down.

But the pilots of Polish LOT airline followed all checklist procedures to save their passengers and nobody was even hurt: circled the airport while dumping all fuel prior to landing and belly landed on a prepared surface which minimized any damage and chances of fire. All hospitals in the area were notified and firemen waited along the runway. Here, the videos show that nobody got prepared for his landing.

As it grew and blossomed fair and tall, Slowly rising to loftier height, It came to a crevice in the wall Through which there shone a beam of light. Onward it crept with added strength With never a thought of fear or pride, It followed the light through the crevice’s length And unfolded itself on the other side. The light, the dew, the broadening view Were found the same as they were before, And it lost itself in beauties new, Breathing it’s fragrance more and more. Shall claim of death cause us to grieve And make our courage faint and fall? Nay! Let us faith and hope receive- The rose still grows beyond the wall, Scattering fragrance far and wide Just as it did in days of yore, Just as it did on the other side, Just as it will forever-more. 🌹🌹🙏🏻🙏🏻🌹🌹🙏🏻🙏🏻🌹🌹🙏🏻🙏🏻 May their memory be a blessing. How can a bird strike really be blamed for the landing gear not opening?
@humansrants16942 күн бұрын
If it takes out both engines they loose hydraulics and electrical power if they start the APU they get that back but it depends on time they were already low and slow but they did try a second time at landing after the landing gear failed. Maybe the APU failed too maybe the engines being taken out by birds also sent shrapnel into the hydraulics or the APU.
@davepayne1642 күн бұрын
@@humansrants1694nonsense. There is a back up battery powered electric hydraulic pump, and manual gravity releases in case of that. And theres not even a sign that the gear doors opened. There is no reason for that.
@전도자-i2o2 күн бұрын
This is my thought: During the aircraft's landing, a bird strike occurred. The captain judged that one engine had failed and decided to perform a go-around according to the manual. However, while attempting to gain altitude, the other engine also failed to sustain output (or experienced output limitations). With no engine power available, the captain decided to perform an emergency landing. Unfortunately, with both engines out, hydraulic issues with the landing gear also arose. Given the short time available, the captain assessed that deploying the landing gear manually would be too risky and decided to attempt a belly landing instead. The reasoning was likely that a belly landing would allow the aircraft to stop safely after overrunning the runway. However, reality turned out differently, and in such a short time, too many unfortunate events unfolded for the captain to manage. Of course, there may have been errors in the pilot’s judgment during this process. However, it might also have been a case of incredibly bad luck.
