This song is originally written and done by Eric Carman in the 70's. Yes Celine did so it, but she re-did it.

👉 In 2017 Dimash received a wild-card for the competition “The Singer” in China. He was the youngest participant of all time (22 years) and the first non-Chinese in this show. Only professional, award-winning singers take part. Nobody knew or hear Dimash before and he also had to start first... and after his first song "SOS d'un terrien en détresse " Dimash captured the hearts of millions of viewers overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood at his door. "All By Myself" was the 9. song in the competition. The competition consisted of 14 rounds, over 4 months. The jury consists of 500 spectators. With up to 1 billion people see this tv-program, that's generated international interest. The performances were uploaded to KZbin... and so, we became Dimash’s Dears. The Chinese organizers planned that Dimash would survive two episodes of the competition and go home again. They didn't really believe in him. But Dimash came, sang and stayed... for the next 3 years in China... but he only finished second in the competition because he's not Chinese (conditions have changed: The next year, Jessie J. won).🌼🇩🇪

(And I’ve seen Celine perform this live twice! I would love to see Dimash live as well some day.)

If you watch Eric Carmen's 1976 performance of the song on The Midnight Special TV show (KZbin), you'll notice his big piano solo. He actually based part of the song's melody on Rachmaninoff's 2nd Piano Concerto, and ended up having to pay royalties to the Rachmaninoff family. In this competition Dimash only knew a few phrases in English, and had to learn some songs phonetically. The Chinese audience members voted for their favorite performances, so his bad English (he didn't switch languages) probably didn't hurt him much. His English on his 2018 guest performance on The Singer of Lionel Richie's "Hello" was a big improvement.

All By Myself music, from Sergei Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto #2, Eric Carmen, a classical pianist added the words to the song and first performed it in mid 1970's. I liked his version better than Celine's. She just did a cover, same as DIMASH.

Carmen should ALWAYS be noted as the artist being covered. By the very definition of "cover song", only the original hit version of a song can be covered, not someone who simply covered that artist's work decades later.

But here's a helpful definition from wikipedia: "In popular music, a cover version, remake, cover song, revival, or simply cover, is a new performance or recording by someone other than the original performer or composer of a song." Only the original performer/composer can be "covered." Celine and Dimash were both covering Eric Carmen. It comes down to credit where credit is due. If you wrote, sang and made a song a bigger hit in its day than anyone who recorded it later wouldn't you want to be appropriately credited for it as opposed to someone who didn't get around to covering it herself until 22 years after the fact?

I used to listen to his songs I even learnt and performed his "Ogni Pietra" song myself. When I found out he lip synced in his performances and rehearsals, I stopped listening to his songs. 🙂 Your make-up is nice though.

The sound mixing people must have screwed it up and played the prerecorded "Sinful Passion" song when Dimash was not ready to lip sync on stage yet.

Dimash lives for live performances. That`s all he desires. He has the ability to sing live as perfectly as in a studio. So I only can repeat my recommendation to you: Listen to his live concerts. Hi Mare, I am one of your subs and I am a Dimash and a Pentatinox fan. Pentatinox is new to you and what may surprise you is that they have a huge KZbin following, They have a version of the song Hallelujah that has over 613 million views ? Collectively , their songs have over 5 billion KZbin views. So if you do a few more videos of theirs, you can add thousands to your channel membership. That is why a lot of reactors do Pentatinox and Dimash. Pentatinox does a lot of covers of other artists . I will leave a link to the song " Amazing Grace. Mare, I personally hate this song . It is over played and it was not one I ever liked to start with . So why am I sending it to you ? lol I know, sounds crazy. Actually Pentatinox take this boring song and twists it into the incredible piece of ear candy art. I shamelessly have listened to it at least 10 times. Maybe more. They really are a level or two above many artists. When you hear a 2nd song by them, you may think this one will not be as good. It is always as good and that is crazy, but see for yourself.
