RIP, Eric. Seeing this video and having seen All By Myself performed at the 2007 Raspberries LA show, it really stands out how remarkable it was -- never would have imagined getting to see EC sing this song backed by the guys. One of those very special things in life.

The always underappreciated, underrecognized pure musical genius of Eric Carmen.

Stupid comment. He's both recognized AND appreciated.
@kentjensen4504 Жыл бұрын
@@chipgaasche4933 Yes, he is recognized and appreciated but if the person thinks he should be even more recognized and appreciated that means that he is, from that person's perspective, underrecognized and underappreciated. I for example think Sir Michael Caine deserves even more praise than he gets, even though he clealry get s alot of praise. Can you follow that, or am I gicing you a head ache?

🥀💔😭 I was just groovin to “If You Change your Mind” (my favorite ) & the Rasberries concert at The House of Blues on YT this month. Huge loss to the music world. Eric made such beautiful, sad, yet also powerful rock guitar symphonies all at once. Gave me chills over the decades since I heard the Raspberries first come out on the radio. A voice and music truely eternal that lifts my spirits no matter what life throws my way…..but gotta admit this is the worst part of a being in a rock/melody love affair, when a Muse is called back to Heaven. My heart is broken and I can only be so thankful to have lived & listened to the best bands and singers of the rock and roll era. Oh yeah, I still have the albums. Eric and The Raspberries will always be pure gold…and you bet I’m listening tonight and for as long as I live. Rock on forever, Eric.

WOW! I am impressed! I can see (and HEAR) that he's obviously NOT one of those who should have just accepted retiring. Amazing, indeed! I saw him back in the mid 70s. He opened for America - and was just as entertaining. At the time, he was riding high on this hit. He started out by doing some mellow stuff, then all of a sudden one spotlight was focused one of the guitarists, and he slammed out the opening chords of "Go All The Way." The audience went nuts!

@@helengiallombardo4077 I always loved The Raspberries Eic, Wally, Dave, Jim, & later Raspberries Scott McCarl & Michael McBride. When Raspberries broke up & Eric went solo he took Michael with him and had a great band with him. Saw him 2x at NY Bottom Line where he was at the piano for the 1st part of the Show & then got up & strapped on his guitar and said LET'S ROCK & ROLL. and brought the house down. In 1976 he & band were The Opening Act for America at Nassau Coliseum. Only 2 members of America performed that night and after hearing Eric & Band half of the Coliseum headed for the exits after a few songs. America made a huge mistake having Eric open for them. They should have gone on first. NO ONE COULD FOLLOW ERIC & BAND SOLO OR WITH THE RASPBERRIES.

He still has a great voice. For those who implied he has slipped some, remember the acoustics, equipment(board, mic, etc.) are not studio quality. I give him credit for doing it straight up live without any vocal assistance like auto tune. Few performers have the voice or guts to go it alone vocally like he does. Even considering his age ND all the aforementioned, he still has a great voice, and is a consummate live performer.
@karenannciccone18548 жыл бұрын
+yawns smith I agree ....it's not just the voice that counts. It is the delivery and how it affects who is listening to it. He still has it.....always will...because it comes from where you can't see or hear it....the heart.

I took vocal lessons also. I sang in a couple of bands and play several instruments. Also, my mother was a professional singer who won a singing contest. I know music, too. I mentioned your comment to another professional musician and singer and he disagreed with you, too . Taking singing lessons doesn't mean you can sing everything and anything or that you have the same vocal range of another singer. Eric Carmen, in his prime, had a great voice. If you studied voice, you should know that.

Back story: A =lot= of processing here. Pretty sure Wally couldn't have even dreamed of playing live lead on this during the painful "divorce" and the Eric-on-Arista / Tattoo-on-Motown era in '76. But time does heal some wounds, and -- to refer to Don Henley's metaphor -- hell thawed about 28 years later. So we have this and the remarkable DVD and CD of the Raspberries Live On Sunset Strip to prove it. (Credit Eric for shelling out the cash from his songwriting earnings to finance all this.)
