“All By Yourself- Panic at the Disco "Viva Las Vengeance" Me Jake and Brendon wrote this song sitting around my wurly in Barebones. Shouting out melody changes, chord substitutes and lyric ideas over the excitement of discovery. I was listening to a lot of Italian arias around that time, hence the melodic range which only Brendon could sing (and sung every night on tour surrounded by lasers and fire in arenas all over the world) A song about a kid in their room with the power to change everything.
An imaginary kid, Isabel's age who was walking through some teenage ruins at the time, spending most of her time in her room. it shot me back to my own teenage years, the isolation beneath the rock posters that plastered my room and my basement and how rock continues to change my life and save my life. gooey stuff. the primordial ooze that holds my head on my body and the sticky stuff muscle memory is made out of.”
